As an in-camera approach, PlateLight provides filmmakers with the ability to control on-set lighting after the film has been captured, while maintaining the integrity of a real performance and real lighting, in the face of a movement towards artificial filmmaking approaches.

Each film operates as a different recollection of the same performance. Satellite Labs PlateLight technology enables the filmmakers to capture the same moment with different lighting conditions. This results in three versions of the same film

New Zealand artists Carlo Van de Roer and Taika Waititi collaborate on 'Toru', a three channel video installation. Inspired by the significance of Tokotoru, or Trinity. The work weaves together themes of unity -- earth, sea, sky -- and references to mythology.

In a physical space, the three films are presented as a triptych. Online the work is presented as interactive, enabling the viewer to control the lighting.

Many thanks for the mention, Todd! We had a great time shooting on Love and Thunder with our PlateLight tech.
Really neat story about the elaborate lighting/camera/editorial system used for a scene in “Thor: Love and Thunder”, a setup which is hard to visualize. Imagine an incredibly controlled strobe light system, virtually invisible to the naked eye, shot at 576 frames per second.
