The problem with both liberals and conservatives is that they'll say society has changed from what it used to be and it's no longer as safe or unified as it once was. But then they just take that as a brute fact and base their policies on how to get along in this "new world". 2/.

Guns have been a near constant in American society. So, the question is, what variable(s) are responsible for the mass school shootings of the last 26 years and how can we address *those* things?. 4/4.

Now take the case of school shootings. Mass school shootings didn't take off until after Columbine in 1999. However gun ownership was already on the decline by that point. Guns were not suddenly introduced in 1999. 3/
