“Just as the Spirit cannot be blamed for not sustaining your life if you refuse to eat, so he cannot be blamed for your continuing sin when you don’t use the means he gives through the church. The Spirit re-orders your loves through walking in faith.”

The Great Commission for modern evangelicals:. “A moderate amount of power has been given to Me — mostly in Heaven and a little on earth, therefore try your best to make disciples, maybe a few from every nation?”

“The crafting of words is a fine art. It is like being a blacksmith, or a carpenter, or a framer, or a builder. Except with words. A man skilled with his words will stand before kings.”. ⁦@RevZekveld

All of the major epochs of the Bible such as creation, fall, covenants, law, blessings and curses, judgements, the exodus, the life of Jesus, his ascension, and the consummation are all covenantal developments displaying the awesome power of his Lordship.

Resting in Christ is active obedience. Relying on Christ and his Spirit means relying upon his word. Relying on Christ’s word means that you are fully engaged in the fight with sin. You are working out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

“The Gospel-centered movement chastised anyone who maximized the natural biblical order. They offered pilgrimages towards absolution if only we loved family less and Jesus more. But the result of such dangerous bifurcation was an idolatrous view.”

“Baptism unites us to the body of Christ, where the Spirit lives. To be a part of the body is to live in the realm of the Spirit. In our water baptism, we receive the waters from above, uniting us with heaven in a way that John’s baptism never could.”

“St. Patrick puts Christ everywhere—above, within, behind, before, and in all places. And the allegiance is not ours to Jesus, but for Patrick, it’s Jesus’ fidelity to us to be with us from font to grave. Christ is ever faithful!”

“Moses and Jesus are two expressions of God’s grace. The Law revealed God’s grace in part, and Jesus revealed God’s grace in full. The Law of Moses wasn’t the final destination of God’s gracious revelation. Jesus is.”
