This entire lawsuit is about getting age verification onto Steam like governments are pushing on platforms like Discord. They don’t care about the children. They want your entire digital footprint to figure out better ways to control it.
Yeah, the more I read into this New York lawsuit against Valve, the more I feel it has nothing to do with the gambling mechanics (which I do view as a problem). Letitia James website makes the motivation clear... They make a point to call out video games CAUSING real violence.

I definitely agree this is shitty behavior. The kick wasn't needed either, just salt in the wound honestly. VRC's age verify shit doesn't work. I've seen minors who have it. But you also shouldn't have to give your ID to random schmucks on a power trip.
I am age verified officially through VRChat, we need to do better than this please.. I made a reasonable compromise and still was forced out. We shouldn't force people to give private information in public instances to strangers. Posting for change, please listen.
