"The history is the tax was used to try to discourage the purchase of silencers" - Ma'am, the Congressional record gives ZERO reason for why they first taxed suppressors. You can't give any justification for it either except that you want to take both our money and our rights.
Democrats in the Rules Committee are suggesting that the $200 tax on suppressors should not only be kept in place, but doubled or tripled. Proving that the purpose of tax stamps, and the process involved are intended to put road blocks between you and your rights.
