If you're interested in reading the book, even if you've seen the movie, my advice is to get a copy. This is a phenomenal book and even though they won't say it—it's horror. If you asked all four characters if what happened to them was a nightmare, they would say yes. 6/6

Of course, Deliverance was adapted into a film in '72, starring the actor that, according to @therealjoebob, starred in the greatest movie ever made—Burt Reynolds. The film is legendary for one awkward scene (you know which one I mean 😬), and was nominated for Oscars. 4/6

The novel was critically acclaimed and was placed on the list of 100 Best 20th Century novels by the editors of the Modern Library; also, it was nominated for the National Book Award in 1971 but lost to Saul Bellow's "Mr. Sammler's Planet" (I've never heard of this book). 3/6

Deliverance was published in 1970, and is the heartfelt story (😂) of four city slickers that travel to an isolated river in Georgia for a weekend getaway canoeing a river that's about to be dammed. They encounter some somewhat hostile mountain folk on their journey. 2/6
