here’s a picture of San Francisco “prioritizing” homeless people
What does public safety really mean in San Francisco? Does it mean homicides at a 70 year low? Or does it mean not having 8k homeless on the street using drugs? The city continues to prioritize 8k people over the 800k who live, work and pay taxes here.

Formerly unhoused plaintiff Apple shares her story in a new op-ed for @sfchronicle. She sued the city of San Francisco not for money, but to stop the city from seizing destroying unhoused people’s survival belongings.

If someone had tried to force me into abstinence, I would’ve run. The only reason I could stay was because I was met with dignity, not demands.

“We are failing our seniors by allowing them to sleep on the streets and in shelter beds as they live their last years,” Kushel said. Monica Davalos, a policy analyst at the California Budget and Policy Center, was more blunt. “Fundamentally it is really just a moral failing.."

This has been a very tough year for unhoused people still stuck on the streets, in vehicles, in parks and in shelters. Homeless people have been attacked by everyone from local policymakers all the way up to the president of the United States.
