Live stream of the @ioaa_2025 Closing Ceremony - fingers crossed for Team UK!

On Tuesday the trip to GMRT was cancelled and so it was spent by the mentors marking, ready for a full day of moderation on Wednesday (verifying marks for the students) and finalising the grade boundaries. and now we wait for the closing ceremony 🤞

On Monday, the students had their final exam in the planetarium and then in the evening we met the students for the Cultural Evening where they sang some Oasis. and (crucially!) got their devices back!!! See more photos on Facebook:

On Sunday, the students sat the @ioaa_2025 Data Analysis exam and attempted real radioastronomy in the Group Competition, whilst the mentors had two trips - one to the planetarium, and one to the famous CSM museum. More photos on Facebook:

The YouTuber @Zhelyo_Physics has released a second video of footage recorded at our August Astro camp, featuring interviews with this year's mentors for @ioaa_2025 and two previous Astro Round 2 questions fully answered by their creators!

Whilst the students had their sky map and telescope observation round, their mentors managed to explore South Mumbai and visit the grounds of the Tata Institute for Fundamental Research (TIFR). See more photos on Facebook:

The Theory paper kept the leaders up until 4am, but it was ready in time for the students to start it at 8:30am today as the leaders then worked on the Group competition and all of the Obs exams - an earlier night was definitely needed by all!

On this first full day of the competition, the students had two guest lectures whilst at IIT Bombay (and plenty of tasty food!) as the mentors scrutinised the (very long!) theory paper to be sat by the students tomorrow

We made it to Mumbai for @ioaa_2025 and enjoyed a spectacular Opening Ceremony(featuring incredible dancing!) For more photos see

At yesterday's closing ceremony we found that the UK team had achieved an excellent 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals at this year's #IPhO2025!!!! 🥈🥈🥉🥉🥉 Well done team for making us proud - bring on Colombia for 2026!

The UK team visited the Paris Saclay University, whilst their team leaders and observers were engaged in moderation, seeing if they could find any extra marks for the team. The closing ceremony of #IPho2025 is live streaming from 2pm - fingers crossed!

The #IPhO2025 competition has begun! On Saturday the students faced the experimental exam at Ecole Polytechnique before gathering socially at Cité Internationale (UK team are a little spread out, but central and near the front - see the close up of that section)
