I’ve been rewatching old Irish films while working on an article about this. The gap between real Irish people and the versions created for us by the establishment is hard to ignore. At some point the real people of Ireland became too inconvenient to celebrate.

This is exactly how gender ideology ties itself in knots. This hypothetical only works if you believe that a man who loses his penis stops being a man, which is an incredibly regressive position. A tragic medical situation doesn’t change someone’s sex or their partner’s
@nosseihdegel1 @TheAkoFiles Let’s say I’m a man in a gay relationship. My boyfriend unfortunately gets aggressive penile cancer and his penis is removed. Am I now bisexual because I am attracted to a person without male genitalia? Obviously not. As you admit, genitalia is only one part of sexuality.

Honest to God, it’s exhausting being in the same tax bracket of existence as people who think like this. If gay doesn’t mean gay, then who am I meant to be riding, the NGO sector? They’re already screwing everyone anyway.
@TheAkoFiles I’m not the one changing definitions here, Seàn. It is your crowd who are trying to impose a new definition of homosexuality upon everyone else; One that reduces sexual attraction to nothing more than a preference for a certain set of genitalia.

Recently I’ve been writing a lot about rejecting scripts, especially the ones handed to gay men. And this whole exchange is a perfect example of how those scripts work. There are two narratives about Hayton. Script 1: He’s a “lesbian”, so he gets to define same-sex attraction.
