I’m tired of being told to be more vigilant as a woman living in South Africa. I’m tired of being told to carry a a weapon and check my surroundings. We can’t run, we can’t walk, we can’t take Ubers by ourselves. It’s terrifying.

No one tells you about the emotional work you go through during pregnancy unpacking how you were raised, who raised you and your relationship with them because that's one of the closest references you have to being a parent yourself. For me, it's been a lot.
