I cannot express to all of you how excited I am. We worked so hard on this season's content and I can't wait for you to dive in tomorrow.
I hope you enjoy it. We made it for just for you.
I just don't feel safe in this industry anymore. I don't know how to navigate this feeling of hopelessness and it's getting worse every day. I'll be jobless this year at some point (hopefully my actual contract end date), and I genuinely don't think I'll survive it.
Might actually end up making a private twitter soon. Sometimes I just wanna scream so loud and bottling some of these feelings up can only last so long.
I'm actually a little overwhelmed seeing all the listings for Fireteam Finder show up, and then get filled so quickly! It's... real. The thing I've worked so hard on is finally real! Stay tuned for more official messages from the team today!
6 months into my contract with Bungie as of today. 6 months of being a game developer. 6 months of breaking and fixing my favorite game.
The train has no brakes.
Life is good.
@deathoftheparty
I can never thank you enough for the work you've done and all you've created. It does feel parasocial and difficult, but thank you for giving your side of things for those of us that were (are) concerned about you. We grieve together now.
Today is my 1 Year Anniversary in Gamedev. What a wild year it's been working on features for Destiny. I'm so grateful for the opportunity, and I'm excited to announce that John Bungo asked I stick around a little longer. I love you all. 💜
Here is a cleaner thread of posts from individuals who were laid off by Bungie and indicated they are *actively* looking/reaching out for industry jobs. I will update this as I see them.
Please share for visibility.
(These are in no order other than how I first found them.)
I'm definitely not at GDC, and maybe that'll happen one day! Until then, I'll just throw myself in the
#WhatAGameDevLooksLike
pool.
I'm Mikey, but the homies call me Midge. I'm new to GameDev, but I've been on contract with Bungie doing QA for Destiny 2!

Quit my job in the financial industry to start streaming on Twitch instead 5 years ago this very week, and got Affiliate during Last Wish Day One. I ended up falling miserably at streaming, and it honestly felt like I had ruined my life.
I work on Destiny 2 now. 😢
Alright, shift is over.
Ya'll are wild. Didn't expect this to reach so many of you. Thank you immensely for all the kind words.
For those that were a little less than, I hope you understand I was expressing satisfaction in our work.
I truly hope you enjoy Season of the Deep.
I cannot express to all of you how excited I am. We worked so hard on this season's content and I can't wait for you to dive in tomorrow.
I hope you enjoy it. We made it for just for you.
Game Development is so much harder than you can possibly imagine, and I learn or see something that shatters my brain on a daily basis.
Any shipped game is a miracle.
Now go play the amazing things these people created for you.
Happy Friday.
That's a wrap! See you next week!
(Time to sleep for an absurd amount of time before tackling the next hurdles and gathering all your wonderful feedback)
The Fireteam Finder Raid Stress Test has concluded.
Thanks for playing, Guardians. Fireteam Finder will return on December 6.

I really wanted it to be as simple as don't contact my mother but this is getting to be a bit too much.
I'll be around if/when it's safer for my mental health and those I love.
Be excellent to each other.
An update from Game Director
@joegoroth
on the new release date for The Final Shape and what the team is working on between now and June:
💠Season of the Wish
💠Crucible updates
💠New weekly quests
💠New content for all players
💠PvP map pack
+ more
Lightfall is now available for launch.
I'm so proud of the hard work the teams have accomplished, and I'm very lucky to be a part of it. I hope you enjoy what we made together.
See you on Neomuna. Go break stuff.
I try so hard not to get overwhelmingly fangirly in the Game Dev space, but...
You're all just so cool and I can't help it sometimes.
Video Games are the best. The people who bring them to life are even better.
I'm so lucky.
Pic unrelated. Sort of.
We've recently added a bit more complexity to prevent accidental character deletions.
You don't need to delete your Hunter to test it — this feature is now live.
Took yesterday off to try and reset my mental, which was nice. Woke up to see more layoffs in the industry so I don't think I'm really going to be okay for a while.
Happy Bungie Day to all Guardians and soon-to-be Runners!
I am so very lucky to be a part of the Bungie community, and even luckier to have worked with some of the greatest people I've ever met. The train has no brakes.

This week has been extremely challenging for so many friends and peers, but I woke up today hopeful because of all the kind words from those of you that offered support and kindness. I have people in my corner who care about me and I am eternally grateful.
Days like today remind me in a massive way that I am extremely lucky to be a part of creating something as incredible as Destiny. I work with tech wizards and design warlocks and I'm just a lil QA hobgoblin doin' my best.
If you have something to say about me, say it with your whole chest or don't say it at all. I don't do things half way. Never have, never will. The train has no brakes, don't stand on the tracks.
I am so glad we finally get to show Guardians everywhere the new feature that helps them have more experiences and social interactions in Destiny 2! I feel so lucky to work with such a passionate team to help others tackle the content they'd like to play!
The fact this is still happening to this level is genuinely awful. Especially to the point where Bungie still feel like they can’t engage like they used to.
This is just the best news though. I would encourage you to read the whole thread if you aren't aware of the situation.
Much love to everyone involved in this win.
Good afternoon! I'm taking a moment to highlight a win we got yesterday on behalf of
@Bungie
, who sprang into action to ensure the safety of an employee who was targeted for racist harassment and threats last year.
THAT MANY PEOPLE PLAYED WITH SYSTEMS AND FEATURES I WORKED ON IN DESTINY?
This tweet brought to you by:

The letter W.
And gamers like you.
Kinda wild how even I saw a fair deal of this as a baby gamedev who had a nice little expression of excitement about the work I helped with go even slightly viral.
Be better. Period.
@gammaknight1
Moving away from a certain mechanic because it was extremely difficult to implement and resolve issues with (risk vs reward) is not avoiding work. It's efficient cost analysis for the future. Simple as.
I really don't think I can express how physically, emotionally, and mentally drained I am right now. Healthy coping mechanisms aren't helping, unhealthy ones aren't either.
Eldritch Blast me off a cliff just so I can feel something.
Got to spend some time with my Mom finally, and showed her the cinematic that launched today to cap off Season of the Seraph into Lightfall. Showed off the drip my Guardian will rock in two weeks. Talked about the Halo LAN parties we would have on my birthday...
I love you mom.
I am now off work for Baldur's Gate 3 Release tomorrow and Mama's Birthday Friday, so I will cease to exist shortly after this is posted - until Monday of course when it'll be back to so so much work on Destiny.
If you need me until then...
Don't!
Be good while I'm gone!💜
Known issue: The auto-selected launch screen after summoning your fireteam to orbit isn’t respecting existing checkpoints.
This is not our intention. For now, players can dismiss the auto-selected screen and reselect the activity node from the Director.
The Fireteam Finder Beta period has been extended and will remain online for the foreseeable future. We'll continue to monitor performance as the test continues.
Have fun, Guardians!
📰 More details:
If I didn't think I could handle people talking negatively about me on the internet, I wouldn't have accepted a gamedev role.
The line is very clear though, and it stops at contacting my family.
Minutes ago, we shared an important update with Rioters about the future of Riot Games. Here’s what these changes mean for our games and what players can expect from us going forward:
@gammaknight1
Nah nothing like that, just normal time vs effort 'cost'
you use in every day type of things. Making a cake from scratch, vs buying a couple things from the store, vs ordering one type of thing. Nothing too deep. Is this worth more time or more effort or am I just hungry now?
Looking for group?
Hear directly from the team building Fireteam Finder about how it's rolling out during Season of the Wish, then get ready to take part in the Raid Stress Test on November 30th.
📰
Just read this to my mom over a Discord call while she's recovering. A lot of happy tears today.
Excited for the future, and for everyone to see the hard with these teams have put in to making this game the rest it can be.
I am so very lucky to be a part of it.
Lightfall and the Year Ahead – Our Goals:
