The anti-full self-driving crowd is as insufferable as the “real drivers drive a stick” crowd of yesterday. Both are manual forms of driving, and both will end up in the rearview. For reference, standard transmission sales are about 1.7% nowadays. And yes, I can drive

@TechOperator I own a beautiful 1972 240 Z. It’s a manual transmission. I love the car BUT my Tesla is light years better.

@TechOperator You wouldn’t believe me how many Germans told me that. Fan base was gigantic until every one of them switched to automatic. It’s the same again with petrol vs electric now. And it will be the same with FSD vs self driving in the future.

@TechOperator My first vehicle was a manual transmission, and driving my Tesla feels more like a manual transmission to me because of the regenerative braking and very fine torque control both positive and negative acceleration. It feels instinctive and wonderful... Although turning on FSD and

@TechOperator I learned how to drive stick in one of these. When I first landed in Germany my unit still had them, they were just starting to transition to Hummers 😆

@TechOperator I drove a standard Honda Civic in HS. A Standard Honda Prelude in college. And a Honda S2000 as a young adult. After driving Teslas for 7 years, I drove my brothers S2000 thinking it would be fun again. NOPE. It felt slow and loud and just annoying to drive.

@TechOperator Hey, I love your Xs but I’m both of these… I can assure you you’ll be in my rear view as I am a professional driver and motorcyclist. Having recently experienced FSD on my ‘25 Model 3 HW4 (and not owning Tesla stock), I can say with 100% certainty that “FSD” is not FSD if

@canarealty I don’t have any special version, two years ago I had like 200 followers, nor do I own a ton of stock. Are your disengagements for critical safety issues, or just personal preference (it isn’t doing what I would do)?.There’s some quirks for sure still in supervised, but the

@TechOperator Technology marches on. Unlike my Tesla, I have to manually lock and unlock the doors, and manually roll the side windows up and down, in my Jeep. So I just leave the doors off to forgo this terrible inconvenience.

@TechOperator My Dad taught me how to drive stick at 17 in a Jeep Wrangler. I loved it……..for about 5 minutes when I was stuck in traffic or tried to go up a hill 🤣

@TechOperator I also went from a 6-speed manual to a tesla with full self driving capability fully paid out. To me, it was also a health and safety choice. (Just before switching over, I also noticed that I had less control over the clutch than in my younger years -sad but true 🥲.)

@AriadneTweet Especially a good heavy performance clutch. The leg muscles are not what they used to be. 😭

@TechOperator I drive a manual MINI Cooper S and a Tesla Model Y. It's kinda embarrassing to forget to turn off the car before letting off the clutch. 😬

@TechOperator It's just ignorance. They haven't experienced anything to change their minds, so they're clutching(intentional pun) to what they know. I've had a CRX project car for about 25yrs. It's had a few engines. The J-spec B16 and transmission - terrible economy at 75mph at almost 5k

@Heimerize Excellent post and that you for sharing. I feel the same way, and that’s one of the reasons I got rid of my Mustang. Once something feels like a chore, it’s time to move on.
