Through 2022 and into January 2023, we worked to develop an initial prototype for the #CRCTS device. We built many components ourselves, while also making use of 3D printing technology to quickly manufacture more detailed elements of the system.

The goal of the Deep Space Food Challenge isn’t just food production technology development in space – we want it to be useful here on Earth, too! Food insecurity is the inadequate or insecure access to food and is a growing problem in Canada, particularly in the Canadian north.
