TW - Sexual Abuse And LONG Thread. 🧵 I’ve been researching book bans for months now. Counting things, analyzing the board meetings. Examining the books folks want removed from school libraries across the country. You might call me a book ban expert.

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable. We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina. A vote for this bill is a mistake.

The average monthly SNAP benefit is $177 a person. The average ACA benefit is up to $550 a person/mo. People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives. Working people want leaders whose word means something.

Hold the line @SenatorBaldwin - Voting Constituent - Prescott WI. No Healthcare; No Deal.
A wink and a nod to deal with this health care crisis later – with no actual guarantees – is just not enough for me or the Wisconsin families I work for. I refuse to sign off on a deal that doesn’t lower working families’ health care costs.

It's bad enough that NBISD students can't access their school libraries because of the actions of L*bsofTikTok & a few Tx book banners. It's also likely that when the libraries do re-open, they'll be missing a ton of great books. New Braunfels students are worse off as a result.
Why ban books when you can ban the entire library? @NewBraunfelsISD has frozen library purchase orders & closed secondary campus libraries following a harassment campaign by Libs of Tik Tok & other out of district extremists. https://t.co/bHFTVNm7MJ

Week 2. So dang good. Learning so much. Give this opportunity to learn to yourself.
Columbia canceled my class on Race and Media. But I decided to teach it anyway. So I built a school, instead. 500+ students online and in person. My first independently operated course and lecture begins TONIGHT! WE MOVE!! https://t.co/DXaGePEw5K

"These books are not pornography. Nor are they obscene," write Jonathan Friedman and Tasslyn Magnusson in @sljournal. "What is obscene is a Supreme Court decision that denies the basic humanity and equality of LGBTQIA+ people." Read more:

“Despite the rhetoric of their supporters, ‘parental rights’ – driven policies have subverted the majority of parents’ preferences, by making it easier for a single individual to chill classroom discussions and influence the availability of books for all.”
