Fact: Crime down, economy up. Don’t fall for “alternative facts.”
According to OPD data, Oakland has reported 71 homicides year-to-date — a 32% decline compared with this time last year, when there were 105 homicides. Experts I interviewed say Oakland appears likely to break its pandemic-era spike in homicides.

Such great work by my colleagues, Emily Owens, John Hipp, Clarissa Iliff and Seth Williams! Thanks for all your on this study!
Main takeaway of LCL’s study on #affordablehousing’s impacts: affordable housing in your #OrangeCounty #neighborhood makes your #propertyvalue increase and #crime decrease.
