Super excited to share new work from our lab characterizing pericytes of the mouse germinal matrix! 🧠

Attended my first @GordonCon Barriers of the CNS this week! 🧠👁️ This community of amazing scientists have been so welcoming and willing to exchange creative and valuable expertise. I cannot wait to reconnect with colleagues/friends at the next meeting (and hike again)! 😀

Our findings also highlight important similarities and differences between the human and the mouse GM which should be considered towards the use of mice to model or study the pathogenesis of germinal matrix-intraventricular hemorrhage (GM-IVH).

The germinal matrix (GM) is a highly vascularized region of the developing brain that is susceptible to hemorrhage upon premature birth. We found the GM of mice is heterogeneous in its expression of pericyte markers, which may influence the GM susceptibility to hemorrhage.
