Independent TD Paul Gogarty says he may not have agreed with his team's style of play, but that Paschal Donohoe was "the veritable Seamus Coleman of his team". He says, however, he believes there is no Troy Parrott in the team to take the present Government to the next level

Former Ceann Comhairle, Sean Ó Fearghaíl, was said to have joked at the meeting about being considered the “old guard”, while being the same age as Mr Martin. Louth TD, Erin McGreehan, said the list was shared as a means to silence critics, sources said.

Multiple sources said that party chair, Brendan Smith, criticised the sharing of a list, saying it was “disrespectful” to TDs. Another TD, Peter 'Chap' Cleere - who was included on the list - said he was offended at being labelled a rebel, given his past as a Kilkenny hurler.

There is growing anger in Fianna Fáil this afternoon over its handling of the presidential election. Cork TD James O’Connor said that Fianna Fáil could have won the election if Billy Kelleher had been chosen as the party’s candidate over Mr Gavin. https://t.co/Kx5ofB2HeX

Some snap analysis from me, as Catherine Connolly is set to blow the doors off and win the Áras. Catherine Connolly’s early start, grassroots energy, and broad left-wing coalition powered a historic victory over Fine Gael’s Heather Humphreys:
