Write it all down before you forget they said - so I have, in this tribute to Bristol Festival of Ideas. It’s brought hundreds of wonderful events and speakers to Bristol over the years and I’ve been lucky to attend many. The book comes out in May so grab a copy. Enjoy the read!
As director of St George’s Bristol, @SuzanneRolt partnered with Bristol Ideas on many events. Here she reflects on Festival of Ideas, the remarkable people presented on the stage and some of the significant and most memorable events she encountered. https://t.co/UMG1l9Zqpe 1/

A colossus of rugby, revered across the sports world, Wales and his (my) home town, Bridgend. He towered above the lives of all of us who lived in Bridgend, an inspiration and someone to be held aloft. #CwmRhondda is resounding in my ears this morning. RIP.

If it is, Bristol will truly be twice blessed and sit at the centre of the UK’s music map as it was Sir Simon Rattle who declared that @stgeorgesbris has the finest chamber acoustic in Europe. There must be something in the air in the South West!

Make time for this if you can - I know it’s raining, but it will stop and then you can wander through the city to experience something out of the ordinary.

Bristol is ambitious so here’s an idea to address the urgency: we agree a pledge for Just Transition planning that goes into the job description of EVERY leader in every sector from 2024. It keeps this top of the agenda and on course & we do it TOGETHER @MarvinJRees @QuartetCF
Next to address the City Gathering is @alixdietzel to introduce the concept of a Just Transition. Watch her talk at the recent @cabotinstitute annual lecture on leaving no one behind in the response to climate change https://t.co/dVnL1d5RY8.

An uplifting evening celebrating our extraordinary local voluntary sector and meeting so many of the people who give generously to support its essential work - huge thanks to Evan for capturing it so beautifully.
It was exciting to be with @QuartetCF for their Annual Celebration on Tues evening, seeing the brand new Lantern Hall at @Bristol_Beacon in use for the very first time. @SuzanneRolt led proceedings with great aplomb, as always.

Three organs being played at the same time in the Cathedral at lunchtime today. Never happened before - maybe never will again - ahead of major refurbishment of the main organ in January! @BBCBristol @BBCRadio3 @bristol247 @BristolWorldUK
@jonpjames
@char1iewatts
Today at 1.15pm all 3 Cathedral organists give a recital on all 3 Cathedral organs. At the same time. Music includes Bach's famous Toccata & Fugue. This is sure to be a recital of epic proportions to bid farewell to the organ as it prepared for its 18 month restoration.

'The world, and Bristol with it, has changed greatly over the past centuries, and so too has the nature and role of philanthropy,' @SuzanneRolt explains. https://t.co/86vPfS66qq

A woman on a mission -after 3 unsuccessful, already sold out visits to Bristol’s wonderful Farro Bakery, I was up early this morning and in the queue. Rewarded with an assortment of still warm out of the oven Breton & French pastries. What a heavenly choice! @farrobakery #Bristol

Important article everyone will benefit from reading. Vital practical recommendations and some profound thoughts about the essence of classical music - why it matters and how we can show our support #ClassicalMusic @guardian
In lofty company - @spconnolly @JessGillamSax @IsataKm @gavhiggins Gardner & Pappano - I was glad to have been asked to contribute to this. Not many words to play with on such a massive subject, but hopefully together some positive ways forward.
