If any friends in Melbourne wanted to see Hannah Gadbsy this afternoon at 4 (front row seats!) - We can't make it (had to pick up a pet from the vet) and so are trying to get rid of our tickets:

Lastly, only downside so far has been the lack of a publicly routable IP - CGNAT is a thing, but the main thing we care about being available elsewhere (our camera system) is using a relay, so it worked flawlessly. And improved upload means it works much better than it did before.

We have concrete tiles, and wanted it high up on our roof (surrounded by some taller trees), and so our neighbour (who does metalwork) fabricated a custom eave mount, similar to ones available in the US:

We're no longer load balancing our connection (before we were LB'ing NBN FW + Telstra 4G, for 100/40) - this is more than enough, even for my partner who is working remotely using Citrix + Me in and out of Zoom meetings.

* Average ping is 35.86ms.* We still see occasional packet loss / some lagginess as expected, but generally good - Zoom etc all work fine. Generally been super solid, and even though it's "bursty", it's generally super quick - very very few outages >2s.

So it's almost 2 months on with starlink, and I thought I'd do a proper update since we have it properly mounted now:. * Average speed (Mbps) for us is 217 down, 14.7 up (appx. 3 speed tests an hour, averaged over a week).* Our fasted down speed tracked was 370, fastest up was 52.

Average seems to be around 200 down for us at the moment but lots of small outages from trees. Planning to mount on our roof ASAP.

So starlink arrived yesterday - and even just set up temporarily on our back lien with some obstructions, it’s pretty decent so far.

Does anyone have suggestions for a good home router (stand alone, doesn't need built in wifi etc) - e.g. Ubiquiti, TP-link or similar that supports multi wan w/ with the ability to load balance but also restrict certain devices / IPs to only use a specific WAN interface?.
