In a few months, l’ll be moving to Baltimore for my intern year in medicine at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore then back to Philadelphia for PM&R. I’ve added my grad wish list for anyone to help with my transitions.

It’s really here. It’s time to make that rank list. I remember my first day of M1 year thinking how am I going to make it. And here I am, making it and setting myself up the next 4 years.

Did several Botox injections (with Attending supervision) for patients with spasticity from strokes, TBIs, and SCIs. Learned a lot in the spasticity clinic and excited for more on this away!

Thankful for the opportunity to work the Penn Relays this year. I learned so much within the two days and brought back memories of competitive sports. I’m excited to see what the world of Physiatry has in store for me.
If you’re at

, come stop by my poster presentation tomorrow from 8-9:30am and see about a Left Medial Cord Plexopathy! Looking forward to seeing you all.
One of my mentees that I’ve been working with for a year just got accepted into medical school 🥲. Diversifying medicine by mentoring is something I truly care because I didn’t have it when I was a pre-med, and it feels good to help those whose shoes you were once in
@CODEMed20
Time to revisit the data:
According to NRMP data for the 23-24 cycle, there were a total of 577 positions (PGY1, PGY-2, R) of which 573 were filled before SOAP (99.3%). Per ERAS data, there were a total of 1055 applicants for the 577 positions (54.7%) 😶

The growth and dynamism of the African American community of
@AAPMR
is amazing and due in large part to the dedication of key individuals. However, the response and cohesion of the entire cohort has been transformative. Together we are stronger!

Had a great time hosting the Tri-State Black Men in Medicine Social last Sunday. It's amazing to see how much the group has grown since 2019 & I'm excited to share some of our plans as we head into a new year and some pics from the event!🧵

I had a great time volunteering for the African American Male Wellness walk. Loving the opportunities to educate the community on maintaining their health with some great friends!

Seeing everyone’s excitement when they matched today was really special. The hard work definitely pays off at the end of medical school.

Great seminar with the post-match panelists. Thanks for providing insight on how to position ourselves for success. Praying that this will be me on the other side providing the same insight .
Tonight was a great representation of all that SNMA promotes: diversity, support, and increasing the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent, & socially conscious physicians. Thanks to everyone who promoted & came to our Post-Match panel & to our FANTASTIC panelists!
Today was a lot. As medical students, we get so caught up in trying to do well and go the extra mile for it (which is how we got here), but life happens and just have to remember to take care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally.
@Val_AlmostMD
Mentally, just take care of yourself. Give yourself credit each day for even trying. Know that there’s going to be good days and bad days and either way it goes, keep pushing but pump the breaks if you feel burn out setting in

Today, we are extremely excited to announce that we are in the planning stages of establishing a Graduate School of Health Sciences & Medical School!

Still can’t believe I can say that I matched into general surgery at UMH-West in Grand Rapids after being late to the surgery game and dual applicant. What a wild ride! More importantly, my husband is back stateside from deployment and will be back next week 🥹🤍
