My dad used to be a stand-up comic. When I was 13 and having a tough time w/life, his friend @pattonoswalt (also a comic, not famous yet) called me. I recall him saying "you won't even remember this shit" that seemed so horrible at the time, and "life gets better." He was right.

Just had a glimpse of perspective re: my country's magnitude on the human timeline. I have a lot of naïveté, and learning about history is laying that bare. It's a bit uncomfortable.
