It's a terrible loss, both selfishly for us at STAR and also for wider academia. We are exceptionally lucky that @CathSGrainger will continue to be involved supervising one of our (fab) PhD students externally as well as on a project funded by the Carnegie alongside @DrMBotha

Some big news! We are gutted to announce that Eilidh and @CathSGrainger as of the beginning of the year have left STAR. It's an immense loss that can't be under estimated. We live on though with @DrMBotha at the helm now!

I am deeply, deeply proud to have been involved in this project. Relationships are the embodiment of human connection, & identifying healthy relationships in the midst of a life that involves consistent invalidation, dehumanisation & internalised stigma is that much harder

Fantastic to see this out! A healthy relationships guide co-created to tackle understanding the signs of unhealthy, abusive relationships. We know autistic people are more likely to experience intimate partner violence & wanted a clear and concise guide for recognizing red flags

@DrRJChapman @AnnMemmott @DrAmyPearson @milton_damian We know that autistic people don't have the same rights, experience inequality, and fight to get to be themselves, fight to get support for themselves and often their families too. Research can be powerful, but only if we deeply involve autistic people and their families.

@DrRJChapman @AnnMemmott @DrAmyPearson @milton_damian Autistic people change the way we think about the world, and while this post has highlighted some big names, we also want to celebrate all the autistic people world over who challenge neuronormativity and inequality. Autistic people should get to live full supported lives.

@DrRJChapman @AnnMemmott @DrAmyPearson @milton_damian revolutionized our understanding of social interaction between autistic & non-autistic people with the Double Empathy problem. This has spawned an entire new empirical field of research looking at how social communication and interaction breaks down between groups

@DrRJChapman @AnnMemmott @DrAmyPearson has been creating an incredible and harrowing collection of research around interpersonal victimisation of autistic people with colleagues, addressing the violence we face in our lives head on.

@DrRJChapman @AnnMemmott is a tireless advocate for higher standards in autism research, often calling out the ways that ableism can become embedded into the ways we do autism research, resulting in dehumanization of autistic people.

@DrRJChapman recently published Empire of Normality - a book that will undoubtedly change how people think about neurodivergence, capitalism, and equality.

We want to take a chance to celebrate some incredible autistic scholars who are making outstanding contributions!
