I've been gaming on different desktop PCs that I built myself for 20+ years. 100% of my playtime this year was on @OnDeck and I didn't use my gaming rig at all 🤯

Does the fancy new Aurora DSQL serverless Postgres database from @awscloud work with modern TypeScript tooling like @DrizzleORM? I tested it out:.

Cognito doesn't support login via magic links or passkeys out of the box. BUT there is a great project from AWS that allows you to add both of those features. It includes a CDK construct to create the AWS resources and pre-built React UI components.

I've been seeing ads on here for weeks trying to get me to vote for a particular candidate for president (take a guess who it is). in a state I don't live in. Speaks volumes about the enshittification of this platform.

Next time you're feeling discouraged because web dev has gotten too complicated, go ahead and see how quickly you can publish a desktop or mobile app and then push an update to real users. It's easy to take for granted how frictionless the open web platform can be!.

Man, making a menu bar app has a lot of gotchas!. Signing.Notarizing.Hiding the Dock.Reactive Menu.Storing state.Running binaries .Logging.Gatekeeper .Distribution .Migrations.Auto-updates .🤯. Sounds like a starter kit I should sell lol.

You can now deploy Next.js apps with ISR (Incremental Static Regeneration) to @Cloudflare via the OpenNext Cloudflare adapter!. Might be canceling my Vercel sub soon. .

I've been full-time remote for my son's entire life (3 years) and I still feel like I barely see him during the week. Working in an office full-time would subtract AT LEAST another 5 hours per week from time with my family. That is time you can never get back. Hard pass.

I've been all-in on using AWS for the last few years but they are really making it hard to stay enthusiastic. Dumping resources into AI hype while instituting mass layoffs and forced RTO (mass layoffs by another name) doesn't inspire a ton of confidence from customers long-term.

Fun comparison to the JS ecosystem - this is roughly TEN TIMES LESS money than what Vercel has raised. Vercel's recent price increases and the overall push to move more of React to the server (which makes more money for Vercel) starts making a lot of sense in this context. .

I'm excited to announce that Laravel has raised a $57M Series A in partnership with Accel. I believe that Laravel is the most productive way to build full-stack web applications, and Laravel Cloud will be the platform for shipping those applications that this community deserves.

OpenAI: We're going to run out of cash any day now. Also OpenAI: Let's do a complete rewrite of our relatively new frontend in a new framework for seemingly no reason. This is probably a drop in the bucket but a rewrite rarely makes sense from a business standpoint.

Great representation of the AI hype cycle vs. reality at #madebygoogle2024 today:. "You’ve heard all the empty promises of AI that doesn’t work? Today we give you something that actually works". live demo proceeds to spectacularly fail THREE TIMES IN A ROW.

Received an email from a Python core contributor using one of my projects today 🤯 (. I quickly launched this when I was on paternity leave a few years ago and it has slowly gained usage among OSS maintainers - this is not the first one I've heard from.

Bonus points:. You can manage this infrastructure in code rather than logging into a dozen different PaaS dashboards from different providers.

Run your web app for $0/month 💸. DB: @dynamodb .Storage: S3.Deploy: @AWSAmplify .Queues: SQS.Mails: SES.Auth: Cognito. on @awscloud without strapping together a mess of different platforms. Tagging a list of startups - great for engagement, not always the best architecture.

Possibly hot take:. AWS dumping a huge amount of their resources into Gen AI hype is SUPER shortsighted. (Mass layoffs also don't help. ). The effects on other services stagnating can already be felt with the announcements at the #AWSSummitNYC today.
