We are celebrating an incredible 25 years of faithful marriage today! It’s got better year by year for us, marriage can succeed with a lot of hard work, commitment, understanding, great communication and lots of laughs!
Zimbabwe was represented on the podium at today’s Styrian Grand Prix in Austria! Alongside Lewis Hamilton was Stephanie Travers, Petronas Trackside Engineer for Mercedes, she’s Zimbabwean, got the job last year. The first black woman to stand on the F1 podium.

Zimbabwe couldn't make it to

but there is Zimbabwe here already in Cote D'Ivoire in the city of San Pedro! This bus to Zimbabwe doesn't take you to Southern Africa, but to a large suburb in San Pedro called Zimbabwe. In pic is my great friend Kennedy Makambira of Caf.
A fabulous one-run win for Zimbabwe over Pakistan in a thriller in Super 12 stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia. Zimbabwe bowling well to defend 130, with Sikandar Raza taking three wickets. It went down to the final ball, a first-ever Super 12 win for the Chevrons!
Donata Katai has won gold for Zimbabwe at the African Junior Swimming Championships in Tunisia in the 100m backstroke. Katai set a championship record of 1 min 4.63 seconds. She is a Gateway High School student, coached by Kathy Lobb.
Tragic news that former Zimbabwe, CAPS and Wits left-back Charles Yohane has been hijacked and killed in South Africa at the age of 48. He was in the Warriors squad for 2004 AFCON. Was coaching the Wits developmental side in SA.

It ranks up there among the best days in sport in Zimbabwe - a thrilling 35-run win over West Indies at an overflowing Harare Sports Club in a group game of the Cricket World Cup Qualifier, after posting what seemed to be an inadequate 268. Sikandar Raza man of the match.
The Commentator at AFCON is Zimbabwean. It means Zimbabwe is also represented. They must be switching the cameras on him so we can also watch him speak. That way we are also supporting our neighbours as they didn't qualify !!
US-based Zimbabwean triple jumper Chengetayi Mapaya jumped 17.26m last night at an NCAA event in Eugene. It’s the fourth-best in the world this year, and qualifies him for the World Championships.

Wonderful tribute to Prince Kadewere, who died on Weds, as Lyon players warmed up in t-shirts in his memory ahead of Man City game. Warriors star Tino Kadewere is a Lyon player and Prince’s young brother. Prince would never have known that he would have been honoured in this way.

Zimbabwe left-back Jordan Zemura has won promotion to the EPL with Bournemouth, with a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest giving them second place in the Championship. A year left on his contract, and if Bournemouth keep Zemura he will become the fifth Zimbabwean to play in the EPL.
Had an amazing day yesterday, flew to Kariba for the day to be MC for launch of a luxury cruise ship, the African Dream. The French owners invested $2.5m and as the cruises are fully-booked for the next two years, they are having two more ships built in Harare!

So Zimbabwe’s Olympics is finished:
Golf, Scott Vincent 16th
Rowing, Peter Purcell-Gilpin 20th
Swimming, Donata Katai 34th, Peter Wetzlar 42nd, both with personal bests
Athletics 100m, Ngoni Makusha 50th
Medals were not expected, certainly some positives in there.

The Warriors are heading to the AFCON finals for a fifth time! Zambia's 3-3 draw with Algeria means Zimbabwe make it with a game to spare. The Zambia game in Harare on Monday is a dead rubber.

As Zimbabwe celebrates 40 years of independence, here are nine of the country's finest footballers - Moses Chunga, Norman Mapeza, Benjani Mwaruwari, Ronald "Gidiza" Sibanda, Peter Ndlovu, George Shaya, Adam Ndlovu, Bruce Grobelaar, Sunday Chidzambwa.
Kuda Chiwandire has done it! A unanimous-decision win over Mexican Zelina Munoz in Harare sees her retain WBC interim Super Bantamweight title. Kuda can fight for WBC Gold title next, she's Zimbabwe’s most successful boxer ever – male or female, in terms of level of titles won.
Zimbabwean cricket umpire Langton Rusere has been named among the 16 umpires for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in Oman and the United Arab Emirates, starting on the 17th of this month. In April, Rusere became the first black African to stand in a Test match.
How good a coach is Norman Mapeza? His Chippa United were bottom when he took over, and they are now ninth of 16 teams in the SA PSL after a 1-0 win over Kaitano Tembo’s SuperSport United in a clash of the Zimbabwean coaches.

awards in Harare. Note that Gidiza has a few grey hairs of wisdom now! He is team manager at Bulawayo City this season. On the left that’s another legend, Johannes “Signature” Ngodzo.
Zimbabwean sprint legend Artwell Mandaza has died at 73. In 1970 he ran 100m in 9.9 secs and became first black Sportsperson of Year. Missed out on 1972 Olympics with Rhodesia banned, Famously raced against a horse at Borrowdale. Sadly, financial hardships marked his final years.
In the biggest game of his career, Warriors midfielder Marvelous Nakamba converts in the penalty shootout as Luton Town win the Championship play-off final and promotion to the EPL. Will see if Luton will want to sign him permanently from Aston Villa for next season.
A confession – I gave an inmate at Chikurubi Maximum Prison one of Mrs V’s precious Tupperware bottles! Charles is from Kariba and hasn’t had a visitor since 2018 and asked for the bottle. Mrs V was ok with it, she understood!

I don’t have photo evidence, but I PASSED THE BALL TO NABY KEITA LAST NIGHT! I was on touchline as teams walked off after warm-up. Ball landed near me, I stroked it superbly to Keita, he flicked it up, gave a couple of touches and then continued on his way! It's true!

Not often that we get to celebrate a cricket win for Zimbabwe! The game was a dead rubber, but the Chevrons ended Afghanistan’s world record of 12 T20 wins in a row with a 7-wicket victory in the tri-series. What a send-off for Hamilton Masakadza, 71 in his final game for Zim!
Despite the 1-0 defeat to Egypt, I was really proud of the Warriors in the
#AFCON2019
opener. Good saves from Edmore Sibanda, Divine Lunga often had the better of Salah, who was unable to score. Mushekwi a disappointment up front though.

Marvelous Nakamba rated 7/10 by Birmingham Mail as he won a runners-up medal in EFL Cup:
"Villa's best midfielder in central area, put in crucial blocks and made interceptions for fun. Had a classy look about him. Stand-out performer for Villa, for me. Needs consistency now."

Norman Mapeza’s Chippa Utd won 1-0 away to Cape Town City to move off the bottom and to leap up 6 places into 10th! 10points from the last four games for Nomara.
Zimbabwe's Isaac Mpofu has broken the national record for the men's marathon for the second time this year, finishing 12th in the Valencia Marathon in Spain in 2 hours 6 mins 48 seconds.
Great effort from Zimbabwe’s Donata Katai to win her heat in 100m backstroke in Tokyo, though not fast enough to reach the semis. She swam a personal best of 1.02:73 but was 34th fastest overall of 41 swimmers, with the top 16 going to the semis. She'll be back in 2024 hopefully!

Zimbabwe have won the Rugby Africa U20 Barthes Trophy with a 19-14 win over Namibia in Nairobi to qualify for the Junior World Trophy. The Junior Sables had last won the competition in 2012.
A great result for the Warriors, 1-1 with Nigeria, especially as the team is rebuilding after the 18-month Fifa suspension. Could have even won it, missed a couple of chances in the closing stages.
A great fighting performance from Zimbabwe to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with African champions Algeria. The Warriors totally deserved the point, if not all three. If they play like this in the remaining two qualifiers, they should be heading to the finals!
Full-time, Zimbabwe have beaten Zambia 1-0 in Lusaka in an Africa Women's Cup of Nations final qualifying round first leg game. Return leg this Sunday at Rufaro. Rutendo Makore scored, the girls have done us proud!

Good going for Zimbabwe in the cricket, beating Sri Lanka by 22 runs in Pallakelle. Craig Ervine hit 91 as the Chevrons made 302/8 and Tendai Chatara and Blessing Muzarabani took 3 wickets each. It's 1-1 in the 3-game ODI series.
Former Warriors, Man City, Portsmouth, Blackburn and Auxerre forward Benjani Mwaruwari has been appointed assistant coach of the Zimbabwe national team ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Benjani completed his Uefa A coaching licence last month.
A great win for Zimbabwe in their opener at the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, beating Ireland by 31 runs. Sikandar Raza hit 82 as Chevrons made 174/7. A great chance of reaching the Super 12 stage for the first time – a win over West Indies on Wed or Scotland on Friday will do.

for Zimbabwe, beating Guinea 2-1. The already-eliminated Warriors held off second-half pressure for a deserved win, Musona and Mahachi scoring. Guinea ranked 15th in Africa, Zimbabwe 31st. Well done to the Warriors!
Happy New Year to all! I’m doing a bit of tourism for the next couple of weeks as my Mum and sister have come from the UK for a holiday here in Zim with me, Mrs V and Rufaro. Here at the Domboshava Hills, just 30 mins outside Harare, a great day out!
The Warriors on this chartered plane as they left for Blantyre for friendly against Malawi tomorrow. Trained this morning, Nakamba and Billiat are there, late additions were Tafadzwa Rusike, Evans Rusike, Dennis Dauda and Divine Lunga. First game for new coach Zdravko Logarusic.

A vastly improved performance, 2 Billiat goals and Musona having a good game. Next matches are Aug/Sept 2020 against Algeria, away and then at home.
