Allegations of Medicare fraud in the media today are extremely disappointing and based on limited data and opinion. The vast majority of GPs are doing the right thing and deserve the community’s support.

Chief Minister Fyles was in Alice Springs to meet with the senior clinicians. Was great to see her again.

Culturally safe care is essential. If we get that right, it will improve care for everyone. I pledge to support the Uluru Statement from the Heart.

I am not a GP and have no conflict of interest with any. So here’s another thread about the state of general practice in Australia. 🧵 👇🏽

Our GPs are doing a great job under increasingly difficult circumstances. It is unfair to single them out. The whole system, including mental health care is buckling under the demand. I support our GP colleges. Health system reform now.

Critically ill patients are blocked by other critically ill patients, not ‘GP patients’. There is not enough bed capacity in our hospitals for all critically ill persons. More miss out and suffer avoidable death.

Yes I would love to refer to social workers in the community. Impossible to find. Impossible to pay for. Can we also have government service navigators for Centrelink Medicare —every other Gov tech app that replaces humans?!
@YallopDiana @stathistav @DrAlanaFisher @TcameronTodd @brookmanknight @MQmentalhealth Thanks @YallopDiana And in return can I say I will be the first to advocate for community social workers. Chose a SW student to work with me on a research project on marginalised young people with MH issues. She is awesome. We need more like her. Funded. In the community.

Quality and safety is also important. I spent 4 years on ACEM QS committee and also chaired an NT Clinical Senate meeting on this with a leader in this field Jeffrey Braithwaite @JBraithwaite1 Resilient healthcare has a lot to offer.

As Chair of the NT Clinical Senate, I have facilitated debate and lead the discussion to craft recommendations that I then delivered to the CE of the Health Department and Minister on health system reform. Engaged with high quality speakers like Stephen Duckett @stephenjduckett

The whole health system is breaking. Community care, access to GP, hospitals bursting at the seams, aged care in pieces and an NDIS that isn’t delivering. It’s much bigger than access block. As Chair of ACEM HSR we have been looking at just that - Health System Reform

I’ve had the privilege of representing ACEM RRR in Canberra directly speaking to Ministers in Parliament House about the importance of rural health and the whole healthcare system over the last 7 years. I have also given a presentation at a Parliamentary breakfast.
