"French lawmakers voted to abolish domestic flights on routes than can be covered by train in under two-and-a-half hours, as the government seeks to lower carbon emissions even as the air travel industry reels from the global pandemic" Well, it's a start.

@StayGroundedNet Keep in mind that it will only concerns 3 lines out of one hundred existing domestic lines, with a very limited climate impact, and knowing that the train alternative in France could allow the government to be way more ambitious.

@StayGroundedNet @Jan_Born Is this bad news for @EviationAero or is France smart enough to exempt electric planes?

@StayGroundedNet @seatsixtyone I’ve often had to travel from Edinburgh to London for work. After years of flying I switched to the train pre Covid due to environmental concerns. Train is 4 hours, is quicker overall, more comfortable and more productive work wise but more expensive which is the main problem

@StayGroundedNet Such a great lead! SO many short flights here in the US are totally avoidable- for the sake of the climate.

@StayGroundedNet @StopFAANEXTGEN It costs less to fly from DC to NYC than taking AMTRAK. Requiring train travel could reduce about 60 flights in/out of @Reagan_Airport Hey @SecretaryPete - think rail infrastructure and reduced fares. Tax commuter flight tickets
