I didn't think my respect for Russ could grow more, but it absolutely has. He has remained the professional and has given his all. If this is true, to know this and to battle each day for his team, much respect to Russ.
Russell Wilson is expecting to be cut by the Denver Broncos in March, per league sources. For almost two months, the quarterback has been starting knowing the organization was most likely going to move on him from after this season.

You know what I respect about Russ, he didn't let anyone know what the organization did, the locker room was completely unaware of anything. He held it close to the vest and showed up as a great teammate day in and day out. Cause most workplaces, folks are telling the dirt.

People straight up projecting stories onto Russ. Russ has been guarded for a reason. He hasn't lost out on real relationships. He's had very real, meaningful relationships with those who have earned his trust. Who he kept at bay was kept at bay for a reason.
I hope Russell Wilson learns a valuable lesson here. People value authenticity. The authenticity we see in this interview. He's spent so much of his career trying to be perfect, and lost out on real relationships because folks don't find him authentic.

Russ talked about Pete Carroll and him texting throughout the season and letting each other know how they both still believed in each other. I REALLY hate how the media tried to paint that relationship in such a negative way. I am glad that their relationship was never severed.

Or because football is a team sport. Tom Brady won every single one of his SBs with a Top 10 defense. Brady even lost 2 SBs when he did have a Top 10 and 1 with a Top 15. Cause at the end of the day, the whole team wins and loses games. A QB can only make up for so many deficits.

I don't believe this one iota. Pushing his vesting date out in essence would've made it easier and cheaper to cut him before that vesting date hit. I wouldn't trust an organization who put an ultimatum down to do anything for the benefit of Russ.
The irony is delaying the vesting date of his 2025 guarantee would’ve drastically *raised* the chances of Russell Wilson being Denver’s QB in 2024 and possibly beyond. Wilson refused, which is his right, and now he’ll most likely be looking for work elsewhere.
