This was one of the big contracts to focus on for this summer. Glad that deal is done early and out of the way.

Exclusive: Reece James has committed his long-term future to #CFC by signing a new six-year deal to stay at Stamford Bridge. The captain’s previous deal expired in 2028. More here with @David_Ornstein & @reallycerys:

I genuinely think Rosenior just thinks he’s better, I really don’t think this is a sporting director thing.

Filip Jorgensen is symptomatic of a club’s execs obsessed with trying to prove they’re the smartest person in the room. They’ll wonder how £2bn of spending on players hasn’t been close to delivering a PL or CL while the summer will just be continuation of their flawed strategy.

Glad Jorgensen is so calm while he tries a weak foot 40 yard needle pass right to Barcola

It’s the exact same. People said Kepa was better than Mendy with his feet, despite long passes going 100 meters in the air and short passes hitting people in the shin. He looked calm and confident though, great.

@Statford_Bridge That reminds me of what I was writing about Kepa. Kepa makes it look calm but he's just an average ball playing goalkeeper, who can't save a shot.

Simply cannot overstate how poorly Chelsea manage this transition. Caicedo comedy decision to jump and counter press followed by Chalobah comedy decision followed by Fofana overrunning Dembele and letting him chop when he has him.

The pace of PSG on the counter is terrifying, but some bad decisions were made by our rest defence Fofana needs to be closer to Chalobah for a 2v1 on Dembele, when Caicedo steps up, Doue is left free centrally, Chalobah is closer to Dembele so he should let Fofana step up

Mate, anyone with two brain cells to rub together could've looked at the team who played the weekend, the travelling squad, and picked the 11.

🚨 Liam Rosenior on Chelsea XI leaked early on the press: “I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of that if that's the case”. “These things now happen quite a lot but I'm more worried about the end result rather than before the game”.

All of those players are worse than the player they’re replacing, but there’s a crossover point where the fatigue is such a negative the fresh legs are worth it. James and Palmer were totally fucked.

Andrey for James, Garnacho for Palmer soon as you got the 2-2 goal. Game was totally getting away from Chelsea and that was super against the run of play. Lavia for Enzo, Hato for Cucu 10 mins after that. More legs. Delap for JP or Josh for Gusto 10 mins after that.

Easy to make subs early when you’re battering bad teams, harder to do it when it’s a tight game with your best guys looking leggy.

If he tries holding his hand up a little further when he dives for shots he might save a few more.

Rosenior on Jorgensen: "He held his hand up in the dressing room. Mistakes are painful and costly and this is one of those moments. What we have to do for Rob and Fil is look after each other. We have another tough game coming against Newcastle."

I have time for people who try new things. I also think it’s a green flag to learn from those and recognize what did and didn’t work. If Jorgensen plays Newcastle and the second leg then I’m done with him.

@Statford_Bridge Am I overreacting in saying this game is enough to give up on Rosenior? He was soo so bad.

The whole thing is perception. He looks calm. He doesn’t complete more passes, he doesn’t turn it over less, he doesn’t progress the ball more. He is a worse passer than Sanchez. He just looks calm.

-JP was unbelievable. Got Chelsea out when they played directly into him so reliably. -Palmer and James both looked absolutely dead on their feet from halftime on. Looking forward to Newcastle and doing this again next week.

-Chalobah and Fofana were asked to defend 3/4 of a field 2v2, suicidal. Second goal was brutal from both of them. Both poor in build up. -Until Jorgensen throws the tie away, was going to say it’s a knife edge. Palmer scores the cutback it’s 2-1. Instead it’s 1-2.

Snap reaction: - Jorgensen is worse than Sanchez at every facet of the game. Shot stopping, claiming, passing. All of the above. If you think he’s better, it’s a talent evaluation problem and I don’t trust you. -No subs til 83’ is SUICIDE in a game of this physical level

If Rosenior told Jorgensen he’s his #1 goalkeeper, sack him in the tunnel.
