These 13 scholars from African countries — mid-career leaders in their medical fields — will spend 6 weeks at Stanford in 2025, sharing their knowledge and expertise with the Stanford community while gaining a new skillset to implement at their home institutions when they return.

Robust workshops, panels, & a well-attended mentorship breakfast were among the highlights. Dr. Barry helped close the event by reflecting on the organization's inception & vision for a new paradigm for global health leadership, where women have equal opportunities to save lives.

The conference featured Vice President of Tanzania Philip Mpango, the former prime minister of New Zealand Helen Clark, and the Health Minister of Tanzania Ummy Ally Mwalimu at the opening ceremony and plenary.

The event was a testament to how much the movement has grown since then, with the launch of the international NGO WomenLift Health, which offers Leadership Journeys for talented global health women leaders on three continents.
