Commander Nathan Gray, from Stoke-on-Trent, was the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm’s Top Gun, with over 30 years of experience as a fighter pilot/instructor. His outstanding 30+ year career was recently acknowledged with a Honorary Doctorate from the University.

Graduate. Champion. Stokie. @NathanHeaney has won the hearts and minds of a city - and far beyond. The award of Honorary Doctor of the University acknowledges him as a sporting hero, a mental health champion and an ambassador for his home city and county.

Firstly, @AbiBrown1 received her honorary doctorate exactly 25 years after first graduating. A proud champion of Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire (both locally & nationally on and off the political stage), Abi stated on the day that she felt “super proud”.

At our recent Summer Graduations, four key and influential local figures received honorary degrees from the university. This week, we shall be sharing their special days on a series of videos. .
