Yesterday a recycling truck dumped its load on the 1600 block of Summit Ave, after a fire was discovered.  Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Improper disposal of batteries, smoking materials, and chemicals are the most common causes of such fires. @stpaulpublicw

Fire crews are on scene at a residential fire on the 1600 block of Juliet Ave. Firefighters quickly made entry and rescued one occupant. SPFD paramedics treated and transported the patient to a local hospital. The fire is under investigation. No other injuries were reported.

The Department of Safety and Inspections has determined the structural collapse caused by this morning’s University Ave fire will require the building to be demolished. Demolition has started, Eastbound University will remain closed through this afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a basement fire on the 900 block of University Ave W just before 3am. Crews made entry to fight the fire and conduct primary searches. Conditions changed, firefighters were pulled out and defensive operations started. No injuries have been reported.

The Advanced Technical Rescue team for @StPaulFireDept did a demo for us on rescues in confined space. The crew had to recover a body from a cave Wednesday night underneath Kellogg Blvd by the Saint Paul RiverCentre. Details on the dangers/challenges they faced at 10 on @WCCO .

Yesterday’s fire on the 1000 block of Western Ave N. resulted in St. Paul’s first Fire fatality for 2023. The fire is under investigation. St. Paul Police, SFMD, and DSI inspectors are assisting with the investigation. Media availability 9/20 at 11AM, Western Ave N & Cook Ave W

Crews are on scene at the intersection of Jenks and Arcade for a commercial fire. The fire was called in at 1:25pm. The business was not open at the time of the fire. No injuries have been reported. The building is across the street from this morning’s fire.

Crews responded to a large commercial fire on Ridder Cr at 1120pm. 50 #firefighters responded, crews were on scene until 4:45am. A 2,000 gallon water tender was requested from Maplewood Fire to address water supply. No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation.
