It is exactly #25years since I entered Government Medical College, #Kottayam, Kerala, as a medical student, on 12th September 1995! .From a timid (& lean) lad all of 17 years, who couldn't speak English well, I believe I have come a long way. Literally & figuratively! #thread

'Ambili Ammavan' (Malayalam) was an integral part of our childhood reading, in addition to Paico Amar Chitra Katha (Malayalam), 'Poompaatta' (Malayalam), The Quest (short lived) & Tinkle. The pictures in Ambili Ammavan were vivid and unique, indeed.

You would have grown up reading Chandamama as a kid, and would have loved reading Vikram-Vetala stories, and that iconic image. Today is Jayanti of the artist behind that image Karatholuvu Chandrasekaran Sivasankaran, or better known as Artist Shankar. Hailing from a village

Ageing is apparently not linear. Had come across this proposition earlier, but looks like there is evidence to support this view now.

1. The sacrilege law is an archeic relic & has no place in a modern, secular society. 2. Nothing, including the concept of god, is beyond criticism. 3. Political parties & organisations that support sacrilege laws are fundamentally uncivilised and regressive. #Superstition

Appalled by this #RegressiveAct by a state govt to 'protect' religious texts. #God, as professed by these man-made books, do not exist & you can now be imprisoned for telling the truth!.Govt protecting #Superstition!.

Found this beautiful James Herriot hardcover collection yesterday at the 'Kilo Book Fair' in Pondicherry. I couldn't resist grabbing it, though I read almost all of Herriot somewhere btw 1995 and 97, thanks to the excellent Public Library at Kottayam, my hometown in Kerala.

Did you know that Fort St George at #Madras (#Chennai) was NOT always the seat of power for the #British in Southern India? .Have you heard of 'Cannon Ball Villages'? .#FortStDavid #SouthIndia .Disclaimer: I am not a historian!.1/33.

There are multiple government institutions, colleges, etc., in the locality, and only the British-era building premises are neglected. #FortStDavid #Cuddalore #Devanampattinam .32/33

This was likely the kitchen. It is a matter of time before the building collapses from the invasion of tree roots. #History #FortStDavid .30/33

Here is a video clip of the ground floor of this Bungalow. It was dark, and an army of bats inhabited the place. The place had electricity and appliances like fans, which were removed after it was abandoned. #History #FortStDavid .29/33

There was an iron vault at one corner of the living room on the first floor. The door was quite heavy. It must have been used to store money and valuables. #History #FortStDavid #Cuddalore.28/33
