Post retirement must haves - Walking around alleyways from Shobhabazaar to Creek Row. Sunset from KumorTuli, Bagbazaar or Ahiritola ghat. Fish fry, Dim-er devil and moglai poroTa from greasy cabins.

That time of the yr. Kobji dubiye goru, chhagol, bhyara, murgi khaoa (feasting on beef, mutton, lamb & chicken like there's no tomorrow). Guzzling down ltrs of Rooh Afza & Mohabbat ka sherbet. The yearly quota of mixed fruit icecream at Taj & homemade sheer khurma. #Ramadan2026

Exquisite & jaw-droppingly beautiful architecture at #Konark Sun Temple. Only turn off was a bigot acting as a Govt guide for the phirang group ahead of me. Lady: "It seems India was quite sexually liberated. What happened?" Bigot: "Islam happened. They locked our women indoors."

Instead of the dumo-dumo aloo the egg curry required, my Non-Bengali cook put lomba aloo like a machher jhol. I understand why it might be perplexing to understand how this matters because the potato gets cooked either way in a similar texture but I'm going to bed incredibly sad.

#SIR in Bengal has undoubtedly seen some of the most creative & heartbreaking forms of protest. From bringing soil from the grandfather's grave to getting goats as a symbolic protest... impactful theatrics indeed.

The most problematic aspect of romanticising such gendered practices in the name of "culture" is ignoring the extra hours the women of the family had to spend in the kitchen to cook an unplanned meal for the unexpected guests.

One of the greatest cultural losses that took place between my grandparents generation and my parents generation, and completely extinct by mine, was the idea of company, of random and unexpected visitors, the “we were just passing by” pop-ins.

Reminded by Mohammad Deepak’s spur of the minute choice of name of the name chosen for himself by Sardar Udham Singh during his imprisonment - Ram Mohammad Singh Azad. A reminder that the nation we desire sometimes lives inside us even when it barely exists outside.

Take a bow @BarveRahi ! It's been 20+ hours since I watched 'Mayasabha' & still in trance. What a technically brilliant yet old school romantic film you've made! Once-in-a-lifetime performance by @jaavedjaaferi in a role that could've gone horribly wrong if overdone. #MayaSabha

Left needed THIS. Someone with intent, zeal and bang on PR. This is exactly the kind of cool Indian Left needs to be to fight the RW narrative instead of creating poorly designed AI content. More power to our poster boy! What a great team he has built! #mamdani

#Ikkis is not a war film, it's a partition film. Kudos to Sriram Raghavan for pivoting the jingoistic narrative to the most tender, humane story ever! As my friend commented, "last month, there was a virus. This month, a vaccine has come out." #IYKYK

I am struggling to wrap my head around this. How did a factory that poisoned 350,000 people in Italy and sent its executives to prison for 141 years get a second life in India? This is the story of a “toxic hand-me-down" thats unfolding right now in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. In

#TheGreatShamsuddinFamily is much like its protagonist Bani - revolutionary in its impact without in-your-face, token liberal takes. Indian Muslims are neither #terrorists nor activists, they are just regular people like you & me who want to have a normal life free from fear.

11/12 Andrey Tarkovsky: A Cinema Prayer Almost spiritual in its treatment with slow, long shots & voiceovers, this one is a cinephile's treat. However, I probably need to watch more of Andrey's work to appreciate this film better. #cinephile #2025 #Documentary

10/12 Music in a Village named 1PB: A musical tribute to the pluralistic identity of India through telling the story of Mirs community in Rajasthan, this slow yet enjoyable documentary is meant to be savoured when one is not in a hurry. Brilliant music too. #music #DIFF
