Because the grind makes you numb and you no longer “question” the system. Have a guess why critical thinkers in the workplace are always labelled as difficult and get a hard time?
@commiefifi
Work 40h+, no time for hobbies only the commute. No time for spending quality time with loved ones. Only to keep you “busy” so you don’t dare to think and question this routines worth.

I feel Gems and Pisces are the two sides of the same coin. Water (dark, moody, mysterious) & Air (light, fun, witty), mutable and water can vaporise into air.
Got a new city crush: Ghent was absolutely lovely. Usually I drive past it on my way to England and get terribly lost at the Ikea. Not this time.
Finally paid a visit to the historic centre. Flanering, people watching, eating waffles and enjoying the views. Top 👌🏽

Let's get the party started!
It’s my blogging anniversary today. 9 years ago I decided to start a fashion blog and have my own side project. Ever since my blog brought me job opportunities, event invites and allowed me to write & publish. Switched to travel in 2020 and look forward to many more years 🥂
I'm planning my corporate exit with a radical and very drastic career change. Have applied for a couple of opportunities that required tonnes of documents. Well, I've not messed up and I just heard back from one and I've made it into the second round.
From 1st June, Germany introduces a 9 EUR ticket (valid for 90 days) to travel around the ENTIRE country by train.
The only catch is you'll have to use regional trains (so no IC or ICE). Happy Travels!
The sun rises in the East: Görlitz will start its day first in Germany. Steeped in history and often used in top Hollywood productions, this town is packed to the brim with interesting activities. Walk over the river into its Polish part or admire fairytale streets.
#VisitGermany
Goslar is one of those quaint German fairytale towns. Cute market square surrounded by historical buildings, narrow cobbled streets. Always worth a visit not just for May Day (witches night) plus they have a summer sledge!
@VisitGermanyUK
Approx 1h south of Hanover

I'm curious
#TravelTwitter
, what's an experience or travel feature that you'll always check out at a destination?
I have a very weak spot for Ferris wheels (scared of rocking pods tho), city museums (for the history) & ofc a nice café (coffee fix).
What about you?
My first collaborative post opportunity is here and I'd love for you to take part.
Love pasteis de nata? You know a cool place OUTSIDE of Portugal where to find them?

Time is flying for me. Just last week I interviewed for a perm job in Berlin (starting in 2024) and now I'm in Brussels starting my work placement on Monday. I went food shopping today in my area and let's be honest don't we all dream of living in an art nouveau house? 😝
The trip to Hamburg has ignited a bit of life back in me, so I've just applied for an events/branding job in Hamburg! Keep your fingers crossed they may like my profile and I'll hear back from them.

I'm writing a first time travel guide to Vienna and I've got so much to say about this incredible place. It will be my biggest piece of content to date.

Plus London already has the London bonus of £5k included so that £19k is actually a £14k position. It’s ridiculous and economically not feasible. I was told at uni my starting salary with a first MA is manager position and £29k.
@Heauxno1currr
Gems don't have to dig...most people are careless with their information and drama...all we do is sit back, watch, listen, learn and put 1 and 1 together.
@commiefifi
That’s why uni grads with first BAs and MAs have such a hard time finding work and mediocrity is celebrated bc those will not question and challenge the system. Keep their minds small and closed.
Ghent was good, but Antwerp was even better. Boi the vibe was extremely high. What a cool and engaging place, I could easily live in the trendy harbour-side quarter 😍 Modern, affluent, lots to do and see. So many cafés, restaurants & rooftops, insane!

I'm nearly at 500 page views for this month! Help a girl out?
I cover road trips, itineraries, European city breaks and Camino pilgrimages.

At this time next Monday, I’ll be in Porto for my
#CaminoAdventure
! I’m staying for a few days for some sightseeing. My official hike will then start on Friday. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
So hold on....Richard can cook, brings home flowers, owns a cute dog AND he knows how to have fun ice skating. I must do something very wrong in life that I’ve never met anyone like him

Bratislava has send a friend request through and I happily accept ☀️🥰 I had one minor little incident but other than that the town is so charming. I’m so impressed and the best bit: there are little tourists about.
#VisitBratislava
#Daytripping
Richard, thank you for being you! Please never stop being kind and genuine and it gives me hope that there are people out there with a big heart and love and not the emotional world with the size of a teaspoon.

The last stats returned from UA revealed I broke the 10k pageviews in June, making this my best running month so far in my 3 year travel blogging journey.
Thanks ever so much for all your comments, reads and engagement with my content. Means a lot. More travel stories coming.
First 24h in Brussels have been eventful. Seen a few accommodation options but all are very outdated & expensive AF. Search continues. Had an insane brunch yesterday, purchased the art nouveau pass and now at the hairdressers. Oh and a Camino sighting of course!

@homemadewitch
Very accurate and also it’s a valid and important point to discuss which kind of tree one could be. I personally think I’d be a mangrove fed up being in one place all the time and dropping the pods into the water to guarantee a wide spread.

😬🤔😬
Finally a no-nonsense guide to Porto that doesn’t label it as a “hidden gem” and tells you exactly what it’s like to visit. Plus I’m making an appearance, too. Highly recommend 👍🏽
I DID IT! I’ve booked my flight to Australia for January and I’m soooo excited. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for the past 5 years and now it’s actually happening. First time leaving Europe. Let the spreadsheeting begin!

During my time in Portugal, I followed one major mission: find the best pastel de nata cafes in Porto.
Over the next ten days I ate my way around town and share all my findings & honest reviews in this massive post.

Every country has their pros & cons when living abroad. I spent many decades of my life in the UK. I speak the language fluently, had a job, my own flat yet I was still treated like a second class citizen. Struggled to make friends with many Brits. At least Germany let's me be.
I recently learned that InterNations ranked Germany the HARDEST country to start a new life in. Bahrain came in first.
I was surprised! Sure, my early years were tough. But I thought moving to another country was always tough.
What do you think?
Good morning

The perfect pastel de nata does exist!
It is
- 6cm in diameter
- 4-5cm in height
- 10-15 thin, flakey layers (shell)
- a soft crunch upon touch
- no soggy or greasy bottom
- silky smooth custard
- caramelised top
- inviting shine, no extra glazing
- slightly warm

All I’m hearing in this article is “me,me,me” from Blake and never any compassion or understanding what her friend Kate might be going through. Friendship is a two-way street, both parties are important not just one.
Had a spectacular evening at Sissi’s bakery at Schönbrunn Castle. In 3h I learnt the secrets and craft of making apple strudle. On my way home now with a fresh one in my bag and a new skill. Yes, that’s right. I’m now a certified Viennese Apple Strudle Baker!

*NEW* Do you like underrated travel destinations & explore lesser known places? Görlitz is where it's at. Steeped in history, this charming town is full to the brim with activities. Even Hollywood loves it and is a regular guest!

Getting all snuggled up and ready for Christmas 🥰🎄🥰 Made a small cheeseboard with home-grown walnuts, my Christmas cookies, ginger tea and a new read. And yes, I’m an introvert ✌🏽

Ok, so this is so random but people love my coffee posts. So to feed the popular demand, there will be more coffee culture and cafe guides in future. I have in planning Leipzig, Brno, Porto brunch, cafes alongside the Camino Portuguese and Sydney. Sounds good?
With 160 page views, my "pasteis de nata around the world post" is my best running content this week.
The post includes the delicious tarts and inspiring locations (mostly outside of Portugal) where you can enjoy these on your travels.

I’m clocking in another 25k steps today in Antwerp in 30 degree heat. Rarely has a city impressed me as much as Antwerp has. What a place 👍🏽

Earlier this year, my Alma Mater encouraged alumni to apply for a special work placement programme. I got in and now I’m going to start a new job in international relations and sort out a move to Brussels for Q3. Cheers to that! And thanks LPZ for always supporting me 🧡
Pancakes are my favourite breakfast so today is a wonderful day in my world. And in true Carolin fashion I like my pancakes with a special extra. Here are my vegan creations

:
Hot apple purée & caramelised pecans
Sour cherries, pistachio cream & dark choc shavings
Do you guys actually enjoy reading food travel posts? Aka where are the best brunch/breakfast spots and where to get decent coffee? I want to figure out the demand first before I write up a post.

Moving forward into 2023, I will continue to share my travel adventures & blog content. I also love connecting with people, especially when they are supportive, engaged and a joy to interact with. I'm a very positive person and have zero time for passive-aggression. I hope we 1/2
Remember the drama with my broken suitcase? Well I took it to legal and just had the email that I won the case. Austrian Airlines have to pay for the suitcase. Have to wait now for the payout and will share the full WTF story once this is done and settled.

I'm going to (plenty) of exotic places on my upcoming Camino walk. But I've just booked the most mysterious one.
Cies Islands - an archipelago in the cold Atlantic just offshore from Vigo/Baiona.
It’s the most Sunday-ish Sunday in Leipzig ever. It can’t get more Leipzig-esque than this. Grab your bike cycle up and down the river/nature reserve, go kayaking, coffee drinking or enjoy art in one of the quirky art galleries in Plagwitz/Lindenau

Find out where in the world the Portuguese settled (and are still thriving) and brought along their delicious pasteis de nata. Yes, so far you can find them on 4 continents. Get your pasteis fix sorted and discover a new cool destination. Win, win!

I’m not sure if someone may have mentioned it but I also love our personalised number plates. Easy to remember and you can always see where the cars/drivers come from!
What's your definition of a "tourist trap"?
To me it's a low-quality experience sold overpriced.
Doing blog research this morning and would love to hear your takes.

A glass of water is not served with coffee in Brussels (as it is common in other countries) but instead you'll often get a speculoos with it.
Guess what, there are people out there who don't eat their speculoos 😱😱😱 Luckily I'm here to rescue them 😃

I'm going to Bratislava next week (paid a tenner return from Vienna) and booked my train ticket to Brno in September (8 EUR). Gotta love how well connected and easy it is to move around in Austria.
My best running post for April has been my Camino Portuguese post covering my 15 day hike to Santiago. It drove 1k pageviews and shows me how important first hand experience reports are.
Will you embark on a
