If you got super stuck, you went to a forum and begged the Eldars to grace you with their wizardry.

Write code, get an error, discover what the error means, fix the code; rinse and repeat.

Why do people think this is cute? A developer not understanding the concept of display and business logic is tragically pathetic. Why is ineptitude a marketing plan for Gen Z. RIP to real geeks, not required anymore aparantly.

Yes, it makes you the problem. Rewind a few hundred years, and you'd have been saying the same about the Scots, Welsh and Irish. But it's rude for people to point out this hypocrisy, so, guess I'm just rude then.

I don't recognise the language being spoken on my train anymore. Not a single conversation in English for 40 minutes. I look around and realise I'm the foreigner now. In my own country. On the train line I grew up on. And if I mention this, I'm the problem.

In the years that follow, there will actually be OG's. If you can write code in Notepad or pen and paper. Congrats, you are part of the last humans to understand how things are made.

Literal space-separated formatting is still being used in serious industries as a data exchange format... JSON is fine, lol.

RIP JSON. AI just got a data format that doesn’t waste tokens, doesn’t confuse models, and doesn’t bury structure under a pile of punctuation and it’s called TOON. If you work with LLMs, this is the part where everything you thought was “good enough” starts looking ancient.

My first programming job, I refused to sign the contract for this reason. So I technically had no contract for many years; kept their secrets secret, because it's the honourable thing to do. In hindsight, a cool boss who valued a gentleman's agreement more than he should have.

I had to decline a job offer recently from ((major defense contractor)) because they wanted me to sign a paper that ANYTHING I CODED OR DEVELOPED even on weekends unrelated to the job became their IP if they decided.
