FedEx has by far the most broken and obnoxious online account system I have ever seen in my life. Who designed this? Me on my FedEx personal account: "I want to make a business account so I can get rewards and stuff." FedEx: "Okay, easy, just create one and it will be attached

The empathy debate is getting really silly at this point. >"Empathy isn't real because it's impossible to truly feel what someone else is feeling." This pretends to be profound while ignoring the functional definition of the word. Of course you can't feel EXACTLY the same as
“It's not that I think empathy is wrongly defined. I don't think empathy is a thing. I don't think it's real. It is a substitute for a real Christian morality... which is not for empathy but sympathy." —Al Mohler https://t.co/CF22WcYovx

This is a bit shallow. Of course, there will be people who are able to empathize with someone else due to similar experiences, who haven't yet matured past those experiences enough to help others through it. Alcoholics come to mind. This matches the "both in the quicksand"
I once heard sympathy and empathy explained like this: Sympathy is when you see someone in emotional quicksand, and with a foot on solid ground, you reach for the person to help them. Empathy is when you jump in the sand to experience it with them, and now you both need help.

There's a difference between someone calling you a Christian nationalist and you actually being one. I'm fine with accusations. I'm not fine with CN. The man who believes God made us male and female is not the same as the man arguing for a monarchy and modern day inquisition.
" If you believe that marriage should be the union of a man and a woman and you're gonna make that argument in public, you're going to be called a Christian nationalist." From today's edition of #TheBriefing. Link: https://t.co/67yIg4hJci

There's something to be said about the pursuit of higher textual criticism and scholarly work to reproduce the original manuscripts as accurately as possible in the ESV, as well as other modern translations.
NKJV editions: • 1982 (original) ESV editions: • 2001 (original) • 2007 (text update) • 2011 (text update) • 2016 (permanent update) • 2025 (text update) There’s something to be said about the stability of the NKJV.

Many of the theological differences (and thus practices) between Christian denominations comes down to whether or not you have the ability to parse information logically. (though there are also plenty who do this wrongly out of incompetence or malice)

The funniest part is that this actually does teach a useful skill.

This is quite true. Doing something (anything) productive is far better than introspection. There's a time and a place for valuable introspection, but it should lead you to action. Read the book. Go after that business opportunity. Build the shelving unit.
I too am 37. One of the biggest things I’ve discovered is that the path to peace is not intense introspection, it’s activity. One full, productive day results in better emotions than hours of self-exploration

Southerners when they get 0.1 inches of snow and have to shut down all public infrastructure:
i really cannot express enough how completely fucking baffled i am that people choose to live in places where there's a winter. you just have fucking *months* of the year where it's a freezing hell to go outside, where your skin dries and cracks and bleeds, where you have to

AI is already borderline useless for in-depth research because of this problem. And people are out here asking it for life advice? Are we serious?

It's why despite going against God's design of "two become one flesh," polygamy still obligated the man to care for all of his wives in the OT. He consummated them, meaning they are united with him for life. It is better that he care for them than divorce them (unless the wives

It's why God hates divorce so much. Divorce rips one flesh apart into two who were supposed to be joined for life. It's why I don't believe, as many do, that just one instance of cheating, or even lust (per Matt 5:27-28), justifies immediate divorce. It's why casual hook-ups

One of my hottest takes as a Christian is that intimacy essentially IS marriage. Study the Bible regarding marriage and intimacy, especially the law, and you'll see what I mean. It's not the state, nor the pastor's recitation that ultimately binds two people together in
When you become sexually active with a person, you are functionally marrying him/her in your body. This is why people feel a moral obligation to remain with those they're not legally bound to when they want to move on to someone else. And culturally, this mindset trickles down

Purity culture was definitely a net positive, but it had some issues. My main gripe is how simplistic it was. Most of it focused on preventing teens from getting intimate, which is good. But it didn't have much advice for young adults seriously looking for a spouse. Books
The real problem with "purity culture" was that many of the people who were exposed to it were also going to churches that didn't preach the Gospel very much, which resulted in them having no idea what to do when a guilty conscience seized them. The reason they were "hurt" by

So you're saying an intelligent outside force was needed to shake this box (made by a designer) of nails (made by a designer) in just the right way to "create" order? Interesting...
Religious apologist: science actually proves my faith Me: how so? RA: because science proves order cannot come from disorder Me: oh?

The poor dude whose life is a mess might be amazing in bed, but that doesn't make him any less of a loser. Being a savant in one area of life and pathetic in all others doesn't make you a good life partner. You need to be well-rounded and always learning.
