Clickbait has saturated the market. Cheap drive-by discourse is a dime a dozen. People are weary of autoplay nonsense and being yelled at by the Internet. That stock is falling. What stock is rising? Thoughtfulness. Paragraphs. Fresh insight. Very soon attention farming will be.

And of course someone could respond, "What's appropriate in public prophetic speech does not necessarily apply to private family relationships.". And I would agree. but this is *not* a distinction you can get from the serrated speech patterns in Scripture.

One of the more helpful questions that can be posed to those who are eager defenders of a "serrated edge" in Christian speech:. Should cutting, crass, and insulting language be used in marriage & parenting? . If yes, you're consistent. If no, why not?.

As much as I want to hate this man I can't. He just really loves football.

@joe_rigney @gavinortlund I’d want to question the hermeneutics at work here. Taking the provocative speech or behaviour of prophets as a normative model for Christian rhetoric today can quickly lead us into strange territory. After all, prophets also walked around naked, married prostitutes, lay on their.

In an age of gender polarization, low birth rates, and alienation between the sexes, Protestants should go out of their way to say that the priestly celibacy requirement of the RCC is severe error. Jesus loves marriage. Christians and their pastors should love it too!.

If AI is fit for human tasks—therapy, friendship, medical advice, etc.—then why shouldn't it be held to human standards of truthfulness? . Instead of calling it hallucinations, call it lies. Instead of calling it a glitch, call it sycophancy. Instead of blaming input, blame AI.

An eye-opening essay on After Babel, looking at what people talk to AI bots about. Spoiler: It's not memes. (some quotes below).

FWIW, I think calling for the repeal of the 19th amendment is both a bad idea on the merits, and also a very obvious trap that progressives are hoping conservatives fall into.

The Rams have a well documented history of lying to the public about the health of their players. Matthew Stafford has a well documented history of practicing and playing through a myriad of injuries. My guess is that the question is not if #9 will miss time, but how much.

Living in one place for a long time has a lot of beautiful blessings about it. But one thing about having lived in more than once place is that, kinda like when you have more than one child, your love for any one place doesn’t diminish because your heart’s capacity grows.

That style will tilt leftward, IMO; toward an intuition-centric theology that’s impatient with the cerebral logic of Reformed doctrine in general, and the gory authority structures of PSA in particular.
