“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

💔💔💔💔 there has been so much silence from the comics industry, the literary industry, journalism, as our colleagues are murdered before our eyes. How dare the silent speak of freedom of justice when they won't speak on this? Outrage and heartbreak aren't sufficient words.
🚨Breaking; The Israeli army has killed Palestinian artist and cartoonist Mohassen Al-Khatib in a massacre in northern #Gaza. Her final artwork, completed just hours before her killing , illustrated Israel burning the tents of displaced families and killing them.

FRIENDS! @Sj_Fennell is a dream to team up with, and the #BronxBookFest is such an important event for our communities! pitch a panel! reach out about teaming up! if you have the means and could travel, EVEN BETTER! remember, THESE are the types of events we write books for!
It’s that time again where we’re not seeing enough pitches for #BronxBookFest. I’m tired of having the team reach out to publishers for pitches. We try not to go direct to artists b/c we’re not in a financial capacity to cover travel & lodging b/c of budget constraints.

We received 4 MG author pitches. We’d like to see more please. We are also seeking a MG author for our TBIR literacy program where we purchase 100-200 books (reported to all lists NYT, etc) to gift to MG students to build their home library.

All of the adult authors we’ve solicited for keynote have declined/are unavailable. So we’re looking for a big name to keynote at our festival (check our website for past keynotes for a vibe check)

We’ve decided to move MG programming to a weekday + indoor venue, festival day (Saturday) will host one main stage, and our children’s activity corner + programming.

It’s frustrating AF. I don’t want to host a 2025 festival, but I’ve received DMs, emails, etc from people requesting that the event still happen. With that said, we’re switching things up for this next festival.

I know the Bronx isn’t the most fanciest place to come to. But please understand that there are thousands of events hosted in NYC, #theBronx gets only 1-2% of author events. The festival is THE largest literary gathering for our community.
