The question of canon is the question of which route out of the branched options occurred within the timeline of events. Which is why it was indicated to be Aerith’s date in the OG via being favored in the affinity system. Which hasn’t changed in Rebirth.

This doesn’t track. Even within the same exact date, there are two variations. Why does he kiss Tifa in one variation but not the other? Why are there 2 variations in how Cloud would act in the exact same situation? Which one canonically happens in the timeline of events?
And no matter what you do, since these dates are not optional in story perspective, you simply won't change a thing in Cloud's action during the date because they are fixed part representing how he feels, he won't say "something" jokingly to anyone but yuffie and the list goes on

So that “homework” Kitase gave Nomura, took 10+ months simply to conceptualize and script out. 10 months… So whatever it is, it’s big. Nomura also specified that “everyone” would be pleased by it. Definitely possible to be multiple endings. Which I personally don’t mind.

I got another question, lol... Pretty basic one too. If FF7 supposedly contains a love story about Cloud and Tifa; why is it doing so by showing Cloud and Aerith dating and falling in love? What exactly would be the point of that?

Quick nuance but twitter has it translated as “frustrating” However, the nuance of じれったい is not simply being frustrated on its own But instead being frustrated BECAUSE something is happening too slow or taking too long Hence westerners impatient(Just wait a bit more! lol)
@SixthGen2048 Yes! He did say that. I interpreted it to mean western audiences might not be satisfied with Cloud just holding Aerith's hand. It felt like he intentionally highlighted that moment to help people notice how special it actually is.

Speaking of “slower buildup”, Cloud’s mocap actor, who’s currently filming part 3, said that westerners might get “impatient” after Aerith’s GS date. Wonder what he’s seen already for part 3? 🧐😶
The thing about Cloud and Aerith’s relationship is that they NEED a slower buildup. The whole point is that Aerith breaks down Cloud’s walls SLOWLY throughout the story. I like how Rebirth showed that progress: the hand holding, hug, water tower conversation, etc.

I love all these parallels with the canon story. Aerith being kidnapped by Shinra, Sephiroth trying to defy destiny together with Cloud, Aerith being rescued by Cloud like in Remake: "you came for me!" Everything properly aligned with the canon. As it should be. 😌👌🏻 #FF7EC

This really is just the natural meaning of the word. We really need to stop twisting language(s) for something as trivial as this. Especially since it’s been *confirmed* to be a mutual love. Saying otherwise would just be illogical and also a disrespect to the language.
