One of the best written yet heartbreaking aspects of FF7 was seeing Tifa's grieve over her father, the loss was sudden and devastating, it affected Tifa on a deep level and she still can't overcome it, both she and Cloud have a lot to navigate in P3 #TifaLockhart #CloudStrife

An example of a game where you have actual options is Sakura wars, in Sakura wars you can choose the love interest and see Seijuro Kamiyama have an ending where he kisses the girl you chose for him although the way he goes on about it fits the love interest you picked for him

And no matter what you do, since these dates are not optional in story perspective, you simply won't change a thing in Cloud's action during the date because they are fixed part representing how he feels, he won't say "something" jokingly to anyone but yuffie and the list goes on

it has been said before but no GS date is optional, each date is a window for Cloud's feelings towards the party member you chose to see, if you didn't pick a certain party member you simply don't understand how Cloud feels for that member, all are canon to show Cloud's feelings

Subversion extends to more aspects I covered in a thread before but in general, FF7 was successful in the different look of the monk character because they managed to make a great character from all aspects, subverted expectations while adding to the story of Tifa

FF7 in general also has the theme of being subversive and that's also for the usual tropes of the JRPG genre, one of the ways they managed to do this is by flipping what's expected from JRPGs making a monk a slim beautiful bartender rather than the muscular man they used to have

I do want to see a main female protagonist that is muscular in build in FF, I hope FF17 does provide us with that, but Tifa being slim both pays respect to Tifa OG design as she has always been this way and also with the additions from TOTP makes Tifa's look inspiring for all

I understand the fact some would like to see Tifa be muscular, but imo the devs managed to maintain Tifa's OG look while making a well written message about going against the grain and finding the best in you, Tifa being slim adds to her especially with how subversive FF7 is
