The key lesson of the Trump victory for us is that Labour has to deliver the significant improvement in quality of life that people can feel or we face the rise of right wing populism that has swept America. Half measures won’t be enough.

Last thought before attempting to go to bed: if Americans are willing to reelect Trump after everything he’s said in the past three months, there’s nothing Harris could’ve done.

The flip side is that Trump ran an awful campaign. He gave a terrible RNC speech, his VP was deeply unpopular, he lost the debate, he had no ground game to speak of, he offended key demographic groups ... and none of it mattered.
If Harris loses, there will be a lot of recriminations directed at her, but it's hard to point to any glaring mistakes that she made. She ran an excellent campaign.

Maturing as a queer person is going from "being gay is just one thing about me" all the way to "being gay affects absolutely everything about me" and finding genuine happiness in that shift
When I was 16 I described myself as a 'normal' gay. I made a big deal out of it. I wanted everyone to know I was gay but not gaaaaaaaay. You know why? Because I was a child, insecure and naive and a bit thick! Seeing gays in their 40s doing this? The cringe goes so deep...
