San Francisco now spends $1.6 billion on non-profits. Much of it for "homeless services." But, homelessness hasn't gone down. Overdose deaths haven't gone down and 30% of all OD deaths happen in housing ran by non-profits with city money. 🧵

Truck driving consistently ranks in the top 10 most dangerous jobs in America killing 1,000 people a year. Why? Fatigue. Night driving. 40% longer stopping distance. cameras can see better than humans. Sensors have faster reaction times Computers don't get tired. Unions
It is absurd what a cheap date Democrats are with unions. The Teamsters don’t even try to get Democrats elected anymore, and Dems still endorse their Luddite nonsense, on top of having taxpayers do a $36 billion bailout of their pension fund.

California state and local governments collected $828 billion in revenue in 2024 amounting to 20.6% of the state's GDP. Shouldn't that be enough? Something to keep in mind as you hear about plans for new taxes and bonds next year. https://t.co/eJm9HBDgia

Higher Ed is another jewel in the crown in need of a reboot.
Grade inflation, rampant disability claims, muddled responses to violent protesters, hyperinflationary tuition, mandatory diversity statements that no one thinks are a good idea... American higher education is adrift, with no one thinking clearly about the mission of the

Unfortunately, a Trump advisor bashing Ukraine and going to work for Putin is more predictable than ironic. My 2012 heuristic, "It's always Russia and it's always money" when it comes to right-wing corruption continues to serve well. China is trying to catch up, however.
🇺🇸‼️ The irony of the moment is that Bryan Lanza, a former adviser to Donald Trump — who in several interviews urged Ukraine to “come to terms” with the loss of Crimea — has now become a consultant to the international division of Russia’s Lukoil. The politics of quick

one thing I love about New York is that tall buildings are normalized and appreciated here. we have dozens of skyscrapers under construction including this 45-story apartment building in the west village. meanwhile, SF doesn’t have a single skyscraper under construction
Should San Francisco allow a 25 story apartment tower to be built on top of the Marina Safeway? Probably not. I'm as YIMBY as they come. But 25 stories in a neighborhood where everything is 3 to 4 stories seems excessive. 🧵

If Newsome did it Trump isn't really lying, is he? Newsome gave away taxpayer money to non citizens while citizens paid out of pocket. Newsome is a disgrace of a Governor.
Trump often lies about Democrats giving healthcare to undocumented immigrants. In California, Newsom actually did it. And defends it. "I'm proud of that. I believe in universal health care." But, he says, "we failed on the border. We need to own up to that."

One day we're gonna look back and wonder why there's 10 or 15,000 homeless on the street. Why hundreds of people die of drug overdose in our city. Why there are organized cartel drug dealers up and down the West Coast slinging dope and it's gonna be too late to stop it.

Gavin Newson is right. The numbers about California speak for themselves: - #1 in homelessness - #1 in poverty - #1 in Retail crime - #1 in gas prices - #1 in illiteracy - #1 in wage stagnation - #1 in frivolous lawsuits - #1 in unemployment - #2 in housing costs - #2 in water
