What changes should happen? The @NIH should own 2% of all IP that emerges from its grant funding. The influx of $ would likely sustain and grow the NIH in perpetuity.
Ideas scaring the academic establishment; could happen soon 1) Capping “overhead” funds for university admins on @NIH grants 2) Taxing of university endowments 3) Making those working at NIH itself write standard grants 4) age-out of grant competition after 65? Thoughts?
