Do we like contaminants in our cultures at CICG? No... but sometimes Yes! 😃We found this glomoid sporocarp and attempted to establish a single culture. We add an X to the isolate code so we know it is a culture from a contaminant. Fingers crossed!!

We started to use multi hosts to establish new AMF isolates and grow cultures to boost sporulation: Kalanchoe (CAM plant) and Belamcanda (as seedlings), and seeds of Brachiaria/Sorghum grass and Bidens pilosa. Results so far are promising!!

Who ever said that arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi can't form fairy rings? Ambispora leptoticha with acaulosporoid morph forming the ring and the glomoid morph inside playing fairies 😂😂
