This is exactly our experience. We won’t do mediation again and don’t recommend it to our parents.
One major missed opportunity in #send is #mediation. 9/10 I advise parents not 2 bother bcos;.1. LAs dont send anyone 2 mediation; .2. LA person attending isnt allowed 2 make a decision;.3. LA person attending is TOLD to refuse; and/or.4. LA delay.Its all time wasting lip service.

This resonates strongly in my experience! The testing seems to only account for a child in crisis rather than one that is coping with their world.
But does a typical autism screening actually test for autism?. People who are diagnosed aged 6+ are usually only assessed at crisis point/ when they are struggling. It feels to me that the diagnostic criteria tests for a traumatised autistic child, not an autistic child.
