NEW: For over a year, I've exclusively covered the DHS-linked "terrorism" research center called START for producing seemingly slanted data on violent extremism. A senior DHS official now tells me START is losing federal funding for its work due to the exact issues I raised.

The correct solution is to pull Counterintelligence out of the FBI, as a stand alone agency w/o police powers, and get the FBI back in the business of cops and robbers.
Are the FBI's recent statements about busting (low-level) foreign spies legit progress reports, or are they to create a climate of public support for the horrible new @SenTomCotton bill that gives FBI more CI powers?. I'm discouraged by the positive changes that I don't see.

I think there is something to be said of learning rules of grammar before attempting poetry. I think some of the RAW reaction is a response to novice or weak GMs failing to learn the rules and just GMing with vibes. Learn the rules so you can know when/where to break them.
Rules As Written in RPGS: . All I know is if the actual guys who WROTE the rules don't use RAW, what the heck people. I do know that Gary Gygax in some of the AD&D stuff gave some lip service to RAW. But I know for a fact he didn't follow it.
