Whenever I read “weak draft,” or “3 player draft,” I think, “How would we even know?” In 2011, for instance, Klay, Kawhi, Jimmy Butler and Vucevic were taken after pick 10
Thrilled to announce that I'll be joining The Athletic on May 15th. Here's our special sign up link, stay tuned for more, and happy NBA playoffs to all!
I don't think Andre is correct here. If the league wanted Mark out of prominent positions due to his views, he wouldn't be on the NBA's biggest broadcast partner, talking to a TV audience of 20 million people
Put a lot into this one. NBA TV ratings are falling in America as the league seeks to maintain its China connection. Maybe it’s time the NBA focused on growing the game at home?

Industry suggestion: If you're starting out in NBA media, and can get a credential, go to a Summer League. A couple Summer League days can do more for your understanding of the league than a full regular season
MLB really fell off after opening day. In general, both leagues aren't getting the audience one might expect from a nation that's been deprived of entertainment for months
To be fair since I compared MLB vs NBA return night 1, here is night 2
MLB (last Friday, ESPN)
Mets-Braves (4p) - 922K
Brewers-Cubs(7p) - 1.0M
Angels-As (10p) - 797K
NBA (last night ESPN)
Celtics-Bucks (6:30p) - 1.3M
Mavs-Rockets (9p)- 1.7M
It's not just that the Raps are up 3-1, but how unshakeable they look in the face of every Warriors run outside 3rd quarter Game 2. Makes a series comeback seem all the more improbable.
