To the career advisor who, when I was just 16, saw me in my wheelchair and suggested I apply for a job at my local council because they “like” hiring “disabled people,” I proudly hold the title of Doctor of Social Sciences, the highest of academic achievement that exists.🎓

The new English test requirement is only for skilled workers and graduates. If you’ve got a UK job offer or degree, you’ve already proved you can speak English. Another test to come here? Just box-ticking politics just to look “tough” on migration.

Imagine being too unwell to work, finally seeing your GP, and finding a job adviser waiting there too. It’s not care, it’s coercion. People who are sick or disabled deserve dignity, not pressure disguised as “support” imposed through the back door of the NHS.

NEW: Reform confirms it will kick millions of disabled people off welfare and onto the streets. If you’re disabled and voting Reform, you’re a turkey voting for Christmas. The *only* party committed to protecting disabled people is now The Green Party.

Thousands marching through London today shouting ‘take our country back’ while walking past streets where the Qatari royal family owns more land and assets than the King. The irony writes itself. 🏙️🇬🇧

Tonight Parliament failed disabled people. 🥀 Labour voted down my amendment to scrap unfair bus pass restrictions. 🌳 The Conservatives whipped their MPs to abstain. 🚌 This isn’t good enough. I won’t stop until disabled people get the fair, accessible transport they deserve.

Strikes show how hard life is without transport. Disabled people live that reality every day because the system isn’t accessible. No access = no work, no independence, no inclusion. I spend thousands on taxis just to get to work, which means I can’t save for my future #ExtraCosts

Most councils simply don't have know how many accessible homes they have, how many are needed and whether it is affordable. This needs to change. To begin tackling the accessible housing crisis, housing providers must collect data to understand the scale of the problem.

The only option left is always the most expensive one. On top of everything else, disabled people face huge extra costs just to get by (average £1010 per month) transport shouldn’t be one of them. Accessibility isn’t a luxury it’s the difference between inclusion and exclusion.
