Broccoli labelled âIrishâ â out of season. âIrish Herbsâ grown in Kenya & Spain. âIrish Tomatoesâ from Spain. Senior officials could not clearly explain how this is happening, what checks are in place, or what penalties apply. Instead, promises to âlook into it.â

Flooding Europe with substandard agri products, while holding European farmers to a far higher standard, is profoundly unfair - and will destroy untold livelihoods in Ireland. No to Mercosur.
Mercosur is extremely important. We cannot let a few farmers kill the entire trade strategy of Europe. If we don't do Mercosur now, then all other trade agreements will be nearly impossible as well. This will kill our credibility and kill economic growth and welfare states.

I worked for 20 years in "Big Ag" so you donât have to. This is what they donât want you to know: Farmers donât have time for conspiracy theories. Romanticize farming all you want, but without modern tools, youâd starve. GM crops aren't frankenfood. They cut pesticide

The farm that @JessikaRoswall visited south of Kilcullen this morning was appropriate : a father and daughter enterprise with the new young farmer coming back from Australia to take over but now she is facing a 40,000 Euro bill if the derogation in lost . We cannot drop these

Dexter Cattle, a rare native breed, have returned to Ăras an UachtarĂĄin. The Dexter Cattle reduce grass on the grounds ahead of the spring and summer allowing for more species to flower, benefitting nature and soil, as well as promoting the genetic diversity of Irelandâs cattle

This analysis, from the @CCPCIreland report on grocery prices tells quite a story. Shows that average food prices in 2024 was 1% higher than 2008 levels, lagging way behind other countries. The EU average increase? 58%. Hard to figure why media coverage constantly overlooks this

Disappointing analysis on food price increases in today's Irish Times. Farmers are price takers and don't have the capacity to "push up their prices" as claimed. Also fails to say that the CCPC report also showed that Irish food price levels today are similar to 2008, 16 yrs ago

@simonmaechling Two types of chemicals: those we coevolved with and those we didnât. Assuming the second category is safe is delusional.

It's incredible to think that grain is imported at harvest time into Ireland, that is what we face as a sector yearly now , no priority given to native produced grains in the market place-it's belittling and demoralizing and intolerable-where's the support from our Ag Industry?
Hereâs more quality UK grain being exported, this time to support demand in the Republic of Ireland. The MV Verlserdijk was recently loaded with barley at the Port of Tilbury, ready to make its way to Ringaskiddy in County Cork. đ˘ đž

How can an Irish Tillage Farmer make any sense of CBAM ( Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) . Going to add to d cost of production here via fertilizer price rise yet not being implemented on feedstuffs from the CBAM related countries, making us even less competitive - đ¤Ż
