Created, Creating. Turn back now, unless you're here for the music. Life would be bland without things like amulets & tin foil hats. My Pronouns are: Us/We/Our

Highlights reel of a performance for a corporate client by The Muffinz. Treat your guests to a live music experience... Beautiful vocals and instrumentals from not only a south African band, but also a reputable, reliable South African Brand, The Muffinz.

We’ve seen festivals working with less than a tenth of the resources given to corporate sponsored events put on better curated experiences. Since forever. That’s the results of still being connected to the ground.

It appears to me, the same issue with arts music journalism is also expressing itself in promoters and bookings... The coverage is not reflective of the scene. I agree. The problem is a "who", I'm sure. An Individual or group of, GETTING PAID to clearly NOT do their one job.
there’s so much happening in South African jazz, but you could never tell by looking at these jazz festival lineups. it’s almost as if no one on their teams has their ear to the ground. unless vele they are catering for 50+ and ignoring that there’s a youth-led resurgence.

You miss the time, the adults took care of the bad shit so it's not your problem? Now why would the adults tell us of the atrocities of the pedophile rings without dealing with it without us knowing... When there are so many other things we don't know? We are the adults, what

So apparently everyone is supposed to apologise because they are wrong... but one of the genders feels the need to apologise even when they are right. Bathathe Babakhe, Bekezela.

Each Year in February, I almost insist we host a smallanyana birthday celebration for The Muffinz... this is the 14th year since The first album, and what a time its been... It would be for you to come through... music from 6pm - 10pm, Lit.culture/ Breezeblock, Brixton.
Mbhaqanga is also food, not only a genre. Food for the soul, the censors were starving us. In our possession we have physical records deliberately scratched by apartheid censors... band music, too cosmopolitan for the apartheid, separateness agenda. interestingly, the songs in

Both these artists are in absolutely brilliant bands currently. Can you name the artists and their bands?

@VusaMkhaya Funny thing is he started out singing soul ballads, and it’s easy to tell in his music. “Depth” is such an accurate description of his arrangements. To back your point, here is medley of some of his brass compositions. https://t.co/YsLgXctkSF

interestingly, in South Africa, also in '96, six SABC regional commercial radio stations were sold off to private owners, to open the airwaves and create diversity of views and ownership... the result was media conglomeration by a few large players.intresting take, we're living

It's simple this thing... Just call it whatever it is, but without the jazz... Because it's false advertising, if we have to take it there. Umanyano lweJazz could be the only Jazz and jazz adjacent Festival to call itself a jazz fest, in this country. All line ups considered.💓
The CapeTown Jazz Festival is seriously falling off. Scorpion Kings at a Jazz Fest? No disrespect to the goats, but nah.. even the core Jazz line up is weak, then add other genres? To pull a crowd perhaps?? One yearly festival I seriously look forward to is disappointing 😔

Live music in the city exists in various forms for its various audiences. and despite the challenges there are audiences, venues, bands meeting regularly, seriously and the point is to make all the doings sustainable. I had a conversation with Bra Lucky, a drummer and

The music producers are also tending to the produce of food, pomegranates, figs, strawberries, kale, varieties of spinach sometimes... Definitely pushing for that to be a thing. It's beautiful to watch them grow as musicians while also tending to a garden and it's growings.
The shrubs and grasses are loving the rain. I'm taking a gamble here, almost everyone in the hood is sacrificing garden space for building profit generating backrooms... I want a profit generating garden... The garden is currently tended by music producers.
